these wire frame knives were sold as a set also with a wire frame fork and also a spoon all together in a leather case with a fold over flap with one snap which secured the utensils.//They were for Boy Scouts. The Schrade set had date 1942 on one side of the knife...Hope this is helpful...

Thanks for your post.//there are some repros out now which are split backspring whittlers with the names Kabar,Winchester,& United Cutlery on them.Most of these are Sunfish knives but there is also a sleeveboard jack which might fit a smallish hand better than a sunfish.thanks...

Thoze "dimples" have other names...;their intent is to reduce friction between the blade and the substance being cut.?? I have found them to be effective when slicing dense,moist,& sticky foods.

My first Kodiak was purchased in 1965 and it has a stag grip on it. The other 2 Kodiaks , damascus and Shaw-Lebowitz. also have stag grips too. The pics in ref. books all show stag grips.// if the grip is gold, you maybe got a great deal!!!
