That's a very neat belt and a great solution to carrying the 301.
I have discovered that the 301 fits, a bit tightly though, in the watch pocket of my Lee jeans.

Re: My Grandad's Case XX
Thanks for the information. I do carry it now and then, but tend to carry my stainless knifes more often. That is just because I don't want to lose or damage my Grandads old knife.

Re: My Grandad's Case XX
Say, are the blades of my grandad's knife made of stainless steel, or carbon steel? It occurred to me after reading this thread again that I never asked that question.

Printing. Seeing the shape of the knife in my pocket.
It looks like I am carrying a large Bolt in my front right pocket.

How do you carry the 301?
I really like my 301, but have not found a way to pocket carry without printing. It is a large knife, as you know. My smaller knives are comfortably carried in the Watch pocket of my jeans. Alas, the 301 is way to big for this small pocket. How do you carry the 301?

Re: Tri-stone Repair Question
My Tri-stone has no markings indicating relative grit #.
However, from using it this weekend I do think my original assumption was incorrect.
Now, I think it is this:
Dark grey stone is COARSE.
Marbled is MEDIUM
White stone is FINE.

Re: Tri-stone Repair Question
Worked with my new-to-me Tri-Hone last night.
Now I have what might seem to be a silly question.
As far as stone grit goes, I know the dark grey stone is COARSE.
I think the white stone is MEDIUM, and the marbled is FINE.
I can't tell the difference by touch.
Is my assumption correct?
Thanks.

Re: Tri-stone Repair Question
I have glued a couple of stones to wood mounts with Gorilla Glue. So far they have not come loose. That's exactly what I did. I'm glad you have had no problems with it. Others, don't forget that it expands 3x, so it doesn't take much. I put a weight on my stone so that the bond would be good (as re...

Tri-stone Repair Question
One of the stones on my Normark Tri-stone sharpener has come loose. What is the best adhesive to re-secure it?
I am thinking JB Weld or even a clear RTV caulk may work.
The factory application is clear and hard, definitely not a RTV, however.
Thanks.

300Bucks,
Yes, I very good point.
I did, however, clean the knife thoroughly prior and did find a little lint buildup.
In my case, after cleaning the condition still existed.

Re: 309 Blade Adjustment?
Success. I used my fathers old Carborundum No. 57 Sharpening Stone to very gradually remove the excess Kick. I placed the heavy stone on my workbench, and then took slow horizontal draws on the Kick down the stone while protecting the other knife surfaces. 4 draws on the stone, check, 4 draws, check...

Re: 309 Blade Adjustment?
Well, I've got the equipment to do it. Also, have the Mechanical aptitude, from long years of amateur car repair, and gunsmithing, etc. I may try this on my own. It doesn't look like that big of a deal. I noticed the drop point kick has already been adjusted, from the factory I presume. They left th...

Re: 309 Blade Adjustment?
Sending to Buck would be your best bet. I have one in their shop now that I hope to get back soon. Mine is a pre 1986 313 muskrat that is missing the shield on the handle. Even though it is an out of production model, they told me they would have a shield from a junk knife to replace it with. The b...

309 Blade Adjustment?
I have an issue when I open the longer clip point blade on my Buck 309, while keeping the shorter drop point blade closed. The trouble is that I can catch my finger on the point of the drop point, because when closed, the point is slightly above the handle. If I am not careful, I could easily punctu...

My Grandad's Case XX
I am fortunate enough to have my Grandad's Case XX #6244, built in 1975. Grandad died in 1986. The knife is in great shape, and I carry it now and then. One of the blades is stained with corrosion. Can I use a procedure to polish that out, or send it to Case for repair? Maybe the best thing to do is...

Re: Please help me identify my Dad's knife
I am pretty sure my uncle gave it to my dad many years ago. I am checking with him to see if he recalls giving it to Dad. My uncle is a man that likes nice things, knifes, guns, real estate, so my guess is that the knife is custom built. I will be very bummed out if it is made in Asia somewhere. ::t...

Please help me identify my Dad's knife
I found this knife in my father's belongings. It's nicely made, stainless steel with bone inserts, I believe. Blade is hollow ground, and the overall length of the piece is 7" open and 4" closed. The bade stamping looks like AKER with a swooping "R" and dagger. Please see the att...

Re: Patina on my Gerber
But, it sounds like the answer is to store it out of the case. Or, remove it from the case now and then to wipe it down, perhaps?

Re: Patina on my Gerber
The green stuff is called verdigris. Its harmless just wipe it off. Store the knife outside of the sheath. Do you happen to use mink oil on your leather? My dad did and his knives seem to grow more verdigris in storage than mine do. Yes, Verdigris. That's the correct name. https://www.google.com/se...

Patina on my Gerber
I'm not sure which model Gerber my knife is, but I do like it a lot. I got it new in the late 70's. Usually though, when I take it out of the leather case it has patina on the brass. Wiping it down takes care of it. But, is there a proper way to prevent patina, or do I need to wipe it down every few...
