My stamp isn't like any exactly listed in any decade. The S is not the lightning S and the dots are in two rows..

Case Sodbuster date code
I've got an unusual date code on this Case Sodbuster. The script shows it to be a 70's era, but it has two rows of dots instead of a single line. Understanding it's a second year of the series due to being 9 dots, I'm not identifying the decade. Any help is always appreciated.

Re: Robeson pattern numbers
Happy to see your response, Charlie. I measured it at 3 15/16" oal. The main clip, the only blade with stamping, is 2 7/8" from bolster to tip. The spey is 2 1/4". The spear or pen blade is 1 7/8". The tang stamp is ROBESON/ SHUREDGE(script, angled and underlined)/ U.S.A.. The re...

Robeson pattern numbers
Good morning, The pattern number on this large stockman is making me question what this actually is. It has the tang stamp normally associated with the 1916-1939 period, but the the 3rd digit of the pattern, I believe is a "3", and this clearly has an all steel construction. Although the s...

Re: Is this a #44?
I think this is a regular #42 knife, and the sleeve board is an optical illusion. This is definitely a sleeveboard..Which is what is confusing me on the pattern, at least as far as what I can locate in online catalogs..there are no remnants of a pattern number on neither blade. ::shrug:: ::shrug::

Re: Spoon tip blade
The blade set up is not at all unusual for an older "whittler" pattern. Many of them were made and sold as a higher end "gentleman's knife", with a manicure blade like yours has, consisting of fingernail file and cuticle tip. As Cal pointed out the wedge between the backsprings ...

Re: Spoon tip blade
The springs are wedged so that a central master thicker blade can ride on both springs. This is called a "true" whittler pattern. The covers are "pressed stag," often seen in early 20th century German knives. The exact process is unknown to me but may be a result of heat and pre...

Spoon tip blade
Recently acquired this A.W. Wadsworth/ Kastor  ..rather odd setup..the main blade, although heavily sharpened, appears to have both edges, similar to a dagger. The nail file has the spoon style tip, which I've never been sure of it's purpose, and the springs are separated with a V style lin...

Re: Hen and Rooster?
Much like other hen and rooster I have, the tang stamp isn't exactly like Goins has listed..without Solingen on it anywhere, it threw me for a loop. Pretty decent knife..little cleaning and some sharpening should get her back in gear..I appreciate the reply..

Adjusting "walk" on folder
:o Ok..understanding how to "tighten" loose blades on folding knives to take out wobble through peining the pins, is there any way to adjust knives that have no "walk"?..meaning, the blades not only need opened fully by hand, but closed as well. Main clip blade snaps open after m...
