The markings were in Serif fonts, and the letter A could either be seen facing right or left. Here’s how to date them apart:
Serif A facing right – the 1940s to 1950s era;
Serif A facing left – 1911 – 1930s era.

Flea market find ?
I found this at a flea market. does any one have any idea on the maker, or age of it? the only stamps on it, are a 5 number serial number. i am going to try to restore it. it has a nice octaganal barrell. but the pump action , is stuck solid.

M y freind makes the planes. to do fine edgeing work, a luthier could use it.

I am no expert, but it looks to me, like a keen kutter blade, in a case frame. and the shield. should be the bow tie type.?

Here is my old 64. which was allso not in good shape when i got it.
the blades are well worn, and the bone covers are cracked, but it still walks and talks no blade wobble.
