Schatt & Morgan mismatched grinds
Does anyone else have S&M knives with blades having mismatched blade profiles (the grind from where it begins at the top down to the edge)? On the keystone it's seen at the point and on the F&W at the ricasso end. Is this fairly common?

Re: Rehandled "Original Bowie"
👍👍love it.. nice restoration work.. What did you make the pins out of? Silver rounds? Junk silver? By the way you have the same initials as me lol Thanks. I made the pins out of "dead soft" pure silver wire I purchased from a jewelry supply company. I forget the guage but it's slightly ov...

Rehandled "Original Bowie"
This is a knife I picked up on ebay awhile back. It was made in Solingen Germany for an American distributor named "ROMO". It was in sorry shape, rust pitted and the plastic stag scales were cracked. The markings weren't stamped very deeply. It's no collector for sure but It's Solingen mad...

Re: Puma knives
Thanks for the info. I suspected the stag was native red stag. It's a knife I wouldn't mind rehandling except for the fact it would ruin It's factory original condition.

Puma knives
I just bought my first Puma. An 05 model. I like the knife but I noticed right away the antler scales have a lot of "pith". They can't be using Sambar I would guess. Is there anyone on the forum who would know of a factory authorized repair person that works on Puma knives? I have a questi...

Re: Buffing compounds
Let me try again. I'll keep it simple. What are 2 or 3 "buffing compounds" (colors, grits or names) that many of you would use to put a final finish on a blade (that is ready for the final finish) in order to leave a "satin finish" rather than a high polish? Using buffing wheels ...

Re: Buffing compounds
Let me put it another way. What handful of buffing compounds (from coarse to fine)are generally recommended for using to put a finish (incrementally) on steel only up to a "satin" finish. I personally don't like a high polish. Another way of saying what I'm wanting to know is, what final c...

Buffing compounds
What buffing compound is best to achieve a relatively quick satin finish on steel? I'm using a dremel tool as well as buffing wheels on a grinder. Maybe there is a tutorial about this I'm unaware of. Any advice and reccomendations will be appreciated.

Unusual handle materials
Here's a list of handle and scale materials I've collected, and or can get ahold of that I've never seen used. Maybe I should keep this list to myself so anything I re-handle is unique to anything else being done out there?? NAWWWW, I'll bet it won't make any difference anyhow so go ahead RWB. Lilac...

Re: "Dickson" fixed blade customized
Nice work! ::tu:: ::tu:: I have never owned a a Dickson fixed blade, but the style of blade, the type of stag and the way the knife is constructed reminds me very much of a lot of the knives that were exported from Germany after World War II, once Germany begin to get a little bit of the industry r...

Beautiful work. The blue jigged bone is a nice change for a pocket knife IMO.

Do most of you make your own or buy them somewhere? I want to try to make my own out of tool steel and see if I can make something that works good. How did you make yours? Bits used? Did you polish the divet??

It's hard to beat stag, especially on a fixed blade of that make and vintage. Looks really good.

"Dickson" fixed blade customized
Don't know who "Dickson" was but they were probably an American outfit that had they're knives made in Solingen Germany (that's how the blade is marked) like so many other US sellers. I got this off ebay needing new leather washers and a new pommel. I did some decorative file work (my firs...

Re: German knives
There seems to be alot of people "chasing" them. Just looking on ebay you can tell that. I'm always looking for bargains on these knives, and they're hard to come by.

German knives
I've got a special interest in knives marked Solingen or made in Germany, fixed blades or pocket knives. Are there others on this forum like that? What German knives and manufacturers "trip your trigger"?

Re: KORIUM facelift
Thanks for the kind remarks. Although the blade looked as if it was rust pitted it wasn't. In fact to give it that brown, antique look I only polished off the grime on my buffer. The lilac wood came from an old lilac that I took down in our yard a few years ago. The heart wood is purplish and hard. ...

KORIUM facelift
A KORIUM knife I picked up recently. I removed the cast aluminum grip and lengthened the tang and threaded the end as well. The blade was a bit rusty (which, by the way, was a feature I was interested in) so I polished it off which leaves a patina on carbon steel that I kinda like. I made a guard, w...

Re: Klass knives
I'm lookin to buy a Klass fixed blade on ebay. It's marked with Solingen, Germany so I thought it was safe to assume it was made there. I know most of the knife makers are having their knives made in China but I've got a thing for knives made by Germans in Germany. Thanks philco.
