Re: Bull Buster & Mudbug

I was lucky enough to pick up both knives last week to compare...ended up selling the Bull Buster. I didn't see much difference between the liners and pivots. The Mudbug dark natural micarta is beautiful and has an iridescent to it in certain light. I prefer the thinner handle too and it's hard to c...

GEC 48 Woodcock (Bird Hook)

Been looking for a GEC 48 Woodcock (bird hook model) for a LONG time, with no luck.

Stainless or Carbon...Burnt Orange Bone, Mex Bocote, or OD Green Micarta only.

If anyone has a spare that they don’t need, please let me know.

Thanks in advance

Re: GEC#93 Ram's Foot knife PPP 2019

The dealer who shows his knives with rocks is a vet and a very stand-up guy. All the knives he sells are new and unmarked. I’ve bought a number from him. All are perfect. If anyone should have an issue I have no doubt he would take care of it. In fact, he is my go to dealer. Assumptions can be harm...

Another GEC with a crack from the factory...what is going on?!?

I'm sure it's a "natural crack," right?

Re: GEC Auctions of Note

Just did an eBay sweep for GECs...these prices are crazy! 200-300% mark up on knives that are still available through dealers! I understand supply/demand, and that the super rare models get those prices, but come on. Gonna stick to new releases.

Re: GEC # 97

Where are all of the 97 Stags? I know they sell out in minutes, but the only dealers that I've seen with more than 1 or 2 are KSF, DLT, TKC, and TPK. Anyone know production totals?

Re: GEC Fractured Stag Handles

This is a long thread, I've been gone for a bit, and JohnR/kootenay joe have basically said my peace for me. I will just add that, on many knives - particularly German or British stag folders - the thicker and knobbier stag will occasionally show up with "natural" cracks like that which, ...

Re: GEC Fractured Stag Handles

Here is my Stag #73 with similar crack to O.P. knife. It was very early in 2007 when the first runs of #23 & #73 got to the dealers. I was on BF and waiting for my Stag 73 to arrive. Posts began to occur with complaints from those who had already received their first GEC knife. There had been s...

Re: GEC Fractured Stag Handles

Well, it's certainly a beautiful knife. Like KJ said...I don't think it will ever affect function. In the context of the other craze lines, in your stag...I think it fits in pretty well. I don't think you would have trouble selling it, if you fell out of love :) I certainly wouldn't give up on stag...

Re: GEC Fractured Stag Handles

Thanks for all the feedback. I would return/exchange it, but as you all know, they are all sold out...and there’s no way I can justify spending $200+ on eBay for another!

No more stag for this guy!

Re: GEC Fractured Stag Handles

Yes the crack in the ivory is serious because if it extends the chip of ivory will fall off. Returning the knife would just result in a refund. There is no replacement for this knife. I knew it had this crack when i bought it and this crack likely happened with the last tap of the brass hammer on t...

Re: GEC Fractured Stag Handles

I don't buy safe queens, so I have a hard time understanding some people being so durn nit picky about natural 'flaws' in natural materials. It's the character Mother Nature put there. In my opinion, when you attempt to manipulate what She created to satisfy your own desires, you get what you get ....

Re: GEC Fractured Stag Handles

The very first GEC i bought, a stag 2006 #73, has a similar crack from front handle pin to bolster, but it is a beautiful knife with excellent stag so there was no way i was going to return it. It remains one of my most treasured GEC's. The pin crack does not detract from my enjoyment of this knife...

Re: GEC # 97

Lucked in to one of Charlie's SFO's, beautiful knife, love the big shield. Get well soon Charlie! Gorgeous knife! Love the shield and how they straightened out the edge. I'd have bought that one...but the other 97's didn't do it for me. I agree...but these are going “Waynorth” of $300 on eBay. If y...
