Re: A Historical Perspective On Vintage Robeson Tang Stamps

RobesonsRme: Thank you for your very complete information on Robeson’s Knives! I’m still going through my Grandfather’s knives he collected and used throughout his life and came across the large Barlow style ‘Daddy’. I used your info provided to determine composition of liners/scales, etc. as your c...

Thx for asking.

Re: Some of my favorites ...

Learned something new today. That indeed the Rizzutos are made in Japan. Didn’t know much about them as a kid, only what the Mexican artisan told me as I watched him put those knives together in his shop in Nogales. I mostly collected Italian stilettos later in life, but I just had to have the small...

Correction ... the Rizzutos I believe are Italian parts, but assembled in Mexico and Korea. (Purchased personally from the artisans who assembled them)

Re: Old Miniature Knives

Thank you for your comments! My Grandfather was an Engineer for Mountain Bell Telephone for decades back in Colorado (aside from being a Big Game guide in the Rockies.). He was NEVER without his little pocket slide rule and was precision oriented. He also left me an 1858 Junior Artillery Officer’s s...

Re: Unmarked Folding Bowie Knife(?)

Thanks so much for comments about my son who passed. He was unique to say the very least. We lost him 12-09-2007. Still seems like yesterday, but he’d want his memory sprinkled with a generous amount of humor and absolutely no pity. ::nod::
Thx again !

Re: L F & C ... any guess as to the age?

Bestgear and Gunsil: thank you so much for your comments ! Using my 50X handheld ‘microscope’, I couldn’t detect any number or letter that may identify this knife further. Good suggestion though! Just narrowing down when these knives may have been made was more than I knew when posting my question. ...

L F & C ... any guess as to the age?

Hello esteemed knife gurus ! I have a question that I cannot seem to find on the net and before I purchase my next knife book, I thought somebody might know the answer. As you can see in my pics, I have what I’ve tracked down as a Jack (3 3/8”), swell end 2-blade L F & C with celluloid scales in...

Re: Mercator K55 Cat knife

Hello Alabama and Eveled ! I’ve carried the K55 for decades as my best utilitarian knife. I’ve had both thevstainless and carbon blades - prefer the carbon as I sharpen that blade maybe 4 times a month for a scalpel like edge. I made the mistake of ‘dropping’ my Kay in a bare instep (wearing sandals...

Thank you ALL for great comments and insights. Dyed bone..... I like that and stands to reason. Thx for that. I bought it for my teenage son as he loved it the minute he saw it. Gimel-Bargeons with filework and a Korean swinguard

Just a few of my Switches I’ve collected that I will soon put up for sale. I went through a phase where I fileworked anything that moved, so you’ll see filework on the French knives. The Bargeons fire very very quickly and lock up tight. The Korean ‘Rizzuto style’ I sent home from Korea in 1978 and ...

Unmarked Folding Bowie Knife(?)

Hello all ! I’ve had this Bowie with sheath for nearly 10 years now and have tried to find one similar all across the net, especially with the blonde horn scales with twinges of blue. Nothing. There is absolutely no wear on this knife or sheath, I haven’t sharpened it, looks like a drop point with f...

Re: Old Miniature Knives

Love all the attention to detail miniatures are given by their creators. I recently acquired some of my Grandfather’s knives he kept in 2 cigar boxes he collected (and used) during his life. Here are three that caught my eye I’d like to share with ya’ll. The abalone scales are gorgeous in the sun, ....

Re: Press Button Knife Co. Walden N.Y. 1893-1923

New member here. I recently acquired a few of my Grandfather’s knives ... one of which is the Press Button Knife/fork combo bolster switch release. As a kid, I remember he packed this knife in his mess kit when he worked as an Elk and Bear guide in the Rockies when living in Colorado Springs. My mom...

Brass Stacker steel grip for Mosin Nagant 91/30 spike bayonet

Cleaning my garage shelves today, found my Mosin Nagant 91/30 spike bayonet I had installed a Brass Stacker heavy steel grip in basically turning it into a short sword. The grip is solid lathed steel that fits tightly into the bayonet channel a normal 91/30 barrel would fit into when the Soldier ‘fi...

One of four Gimel-Bargeon’s I’ll soon put up for sale. All of my automatics I left in Phoenix AZ when I moved to California 19 years ago. All are behind glass in shadow boxes taking up space in my sister’s storage shed in a foot locker. Once I visit Phoenix soon, I’ll dig them out, take some photos ...

Hello from SoCal by way of Phoenix AZ

Glad to be a part of this esteemed group ! Looking to listen and learn about all things ‘blades’. For years I carried a Spyderco original run Meerkat for daily...
