Yes Mario, it uses a leaf spring. I could have one made but would prefer an original.

Pull ball spring.

Does anyone happen to have a G.Schrade pullball spring, in or out of a parts knife. I just picked up a great PB but the spring is snapped. Thanks in advance.

Re: How to Dye?

Potassium permanganate will dye bone fairly well. I’ve found that gently heating the bone with a torch, heat gun or even a blow dryer will open the pores in the bone and allow the dye to penetrate a little deeper. You’ll first need to use a natural degreaser to remove any oils which otherwise preve...

Re: proud blade/broken back spring material?

Missed the broken back spring question. You can get steel bar stock, like 1095, and make a new spring. You'll have to be sure to harden and temper it properly for it to function correctly though. Make sure to drill any holes before you harden it though. You can do that and then thin it down to the ...

Re: Unusual Scout/Utility knife

Very rare knife made by Utica cutlery . I had one a few years ago . From what I remember it was a Boy Scouts field day knife given to the scouts when they camped out at the White House lawn . Thus the militaryish Boy Scout enamel shield . I have a picture of it in one of my knife books , I’ll have ...

Re: Remington switch knife

Yes Clockman is correct. These were contract knives made for Remington by the George Schrade Knife Co,(Presto) they had. Dozen or so patterns made for them this one could use a little TLC to be sure. It is still a good knife. I’d be interested should you decide to part with it.

Re: Keen Kutter automatics

Keen Kutter.jpg I have two Keen Kutter automatics. The larger one still has a faint etch on the blade, but did not show up in the photo. I finally found a Keen Kutter castrating knife for my collection. I had to pay $68.00 for a knife that is probably worth $35.00 Those are great knives for sure. L...

Re: Just published 2022 Vintage Switchblade Calendar

Just got mine today. I've printed calendars for my business and received many calendars in return but I've never seen such quality in a calendar before. It's more like a book. Excellent pictures. Kudos Alex but I can't imagine how you can top it in 2023. Thanks Bill. That means a lot coming from you.
