Re: Made in Austria

Thank you so much. I have looked for info many times over the years and found nothing. Do you have one like this or just the info? Do you have any thoughts on the sale value?

Re: Made in Austria

I've added photos to show the "liner lock" (hope that is right) which is wood and the "bolster" (hope that is right) which is not a good fit. It is short of making the circle by a bit. Definitely not machine made. What you called a hammer, I assumed was a farming tool of some kin...

Re: Hello from Arkansas

Found this site accidently while I was researching an old knife. I have had a lot of fun so far just seeing what's out there. If you are ever in Eureka Springs, give me a holler.

Re: Hello from Arkansas

Thanks, I took a look at some of your collection. Impressed. You have several old handmade knives that are very nice. I will get some photos ready and post them while we are all on house arrest from this silly virus.

Re: Handle material??

I was just hoping that there was a way to learn to tell without doing it one knife at a time. I will start with the ones I know for sure and then come back for your help on what I don't. thanks

Handle material??

My first silly question. I have read all of posts and looked at the research and still can't be sure of what some of the handles are made of. I know some of you experts can give me a few places to find some good answers.

Re: Hello from Arkansas

Oh great, I have exploding knives. Now if I only knew enough to be sure of which one was what. ::dang:: That does explain some of the damage I have seen, I assumed they were just not good knives. Thanks again.

Hey it worked, thanks Steve. Now I have to learn which forum to post which picture and ask which question. Right after I learn enough of the lingo to ask the question properly.

Re: Hello from Arkansas

Hi and welcome. My in-laws were down in the little town of Kirby, 'bout an hour south-west of Hot Springs. Nice area, albeit too hot for me to settle there  I am in the NW corner in the mountains, I don't think I could survive down there. With climate change, I guess we will all be there s...
