Re: How sharp is too sharp?

I had a professional sharpener that used to live in my county . When I brought him knives , he'd ask what the knife was being used for . I said what does it matter ? He then went on about how certain tasks do better with certain degrees of edge . Id say , well , that Kabar MK2 I use as a camp knife ...

I finally bought a Cheetah

Recently I was at a local joint which has a good number of those beautiful wooden case displays . They are difficult to walk by without getting stuck for 15 minutes of more , im my case . I was in the market for snagging a large stockman [ cv , yellow ] as i believe them to be such a great versatile...

Re: New Case steel

I think its a good move . I think their CV is damn fine . Carbon steel is , imho , where its at . Most of my old and older knives are carbon steel and they still exist after a ton of use and look pretty damn good . The whole corrasion " issue " is over played , to me anyway . To be honest ...

Re: Im confused about the original Bucklite

Ruffinogold, Here's what Buck posted at their "about us" on their website. I believe Tony Wagner is now the Buck historian since Joe Houser retired. Nevertheless, follow these instructions and contact them. Be patient and give them time to research your question / knife. HISTORY If you ha...

Re: Show off your fixed blades!

I very much like a sharp finger styled pattern . Ive retired my old one and a few years ago got ahold of a W. Dupree " sharp Finger " in 1080 . Its one I carry on my property . I find sharp fingers to be versatile as heck . I can get most things accomplished with one . Im not familiar with...

Re: Im confused about the original Bucklite

I have no expertise but no later than than 1983 I bought a Buck 422 that is constructed like the Buck you describe. My 422 is the size of a Buck 112 and is fitted with the common 112 clip blade. Unlike yours my synthetic handle is a reddish or rust brown. Unlike the thinner modern Bucklites its ham...

Im confused about the original Bucklite

The knife I had gotten from my step father was similar to this one but without finger grooves , colored black and came in a black and brown belt pouch https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/catalog/buck-knives/53714-buck-usa-bucklite-...

Re: MADE IN CHINA SCHRADES

For me it depends . They use a few different steels , some of which I'm not in favor of and a couple that I'm good with . I purchased a " magic " assisted folder and the blade is Aus 8 , which is ok . They have a cr7 that is ok too . Their 400 stuff and the cr3 stuff is a no go for me . Fo...
