Re: The Amateur Astronomy Page

Great pics, Mark! Thank you for sharing those.

I don’t know the official word yet but I would estimate that we got about 97% of totality in my area. There was just a thin sliver of the sun showing.

It was fun to watch. I’m glad I got off my keester and ran out and got glasses at the last minute.

Re: The Amateur Astronomy Page

The Dollar General glasses seem to be okay. It’s been pretty interesting here in the Midwest.

Looks like a Crescent Moon right now but it’s the Sun instead.

Re: The Amateur Astronomy Page

I had about a dozen chances to buy eclipse viewing glasses but passed on them because I wasn’t interested.

Now that the day is here and it’s mostly sunny, I wish I would have grabbed a pair.

Re: What's Currently on Your Reading List?

Last night I finished reading “Trophy Hunt” the 4th book in the Joe Pickett series by C.J. Box. Interesting story for sure. I’m already seeing what Ken meant when he said each book is better than the last one. With 24 books in the series, I can only begin to imagine the entertainment that lies ahead...

I didn't know David Yellowhorse was a Chief.

Both of mine were made within the last 3 years. I want a Money Clip too but I'm waiting for him to make the right one.

Re: PayPal love/hate

I don’t know if this helps because I’m only a personal seller and I don’t have a store. I shipped 3 packages last week that I sold on a different forum and all the buyers paid with PayPal. I plugged the tracking into Paypal for two of them but I forgot to do it for the third one. I never heard anyth...

Re: Do you keep a collection logbook/record? What kind?

I also use an Excel spreadsheet. Makes it easy to add and subtract knives as I buy and sell them. The “Auto Sum” feature also makes it easy to keep track of the total amount spent. ::tu:: Rick! If you want to insert pictures of your knives, this simply is what to do: 1. On the Insert tab select Pic...

Re: numbered editions

I personally don't put too much emphasis on the serial number. At one time, I had two GEC knives that were different patterns and both were serial number 2. A 53 Cuban in Elk and a 68 White Owl in Elk. I have to confess that I thought that was pretty cool. I wound up selling both of them eventually ...

Re: numbered editions

Some collectors will pay a premium for #1 of a limited run. The lower the run quantity, the higher price they are willing to pay. With that in mind, many runs are not serialized. For example, you might have a knife that is one of 1,000 made but it’s not necessarily number one because the run isn’t s...

Re: What's Currently on Your Reading List?

I’m currently reading the first book in the Joe Pickett series authored by C.J. Box. I was blown away when one of our upstanding members offered to send me the books in the series that he has already read. Included in the package were 12 books in the series and as if that wasn’t enough, he also toss...

Re: What's Currently on Your Reading List?

I recommend starting with the first of the series and try to read them in order. Although each one is written such that it can be a stand-alone mystery, there are some recurring characters that are introduced, especially in the earlier stories. Some are good guys, and some are bad actors who disapp...

Just arrived today, latest in the Joe Pickett series. Don’t know how this can be any better than the last one. Ken I recently retired and I have a lot more time on my hands these days. I think I’m going to take up reading as a way to pass some time while I’m sitting around doing nothing. This...

Re: The start of an 112 obsession

My first 112 came to me as a Christmas present from my wife in 1988. It’s still in use, and I treasure it. I’ve added a few more over the years. Not seen in the photo is a recent acquisition - a very early 112 - which I recently sent back to Buck for an “S.P.A”. Next to my first one, my favorite is...

My pleasure, buddy, it was easy to find amongst all my others so I thought I'd save you the trouble of you searching for your copy. I was mistaken about owning 2, that is the only copy I have, but it was this knife I have 2 of, both made by Tak and both with buffalo horn covers. These are different...
