Re: Have to ask the Buck guys ...

I remember reading the reason most of the 30X series was recently discontinued was that the line was in the process of a retool. So far, I haven't' seen anything yet. Maybe bone will be more common then. That’s very interesting news. Maybe they’re fixing the lack of engagement with the springs on t...

Re: THIS ebay "thing" has happened to me a LOT LATELY....

Don’t bother with bidding until the end. IMO, most prolific sellers prob have two accounts to drive up the bids. OR, even more likely, there are people who have “issues” and bid for the excitement of getting on top, influencing auctions and then back out or get off raising the bid and barely getting...

Re: Mail Call !-Post your new pick-ups here............

Well it FINALLY arrived and I picked it up at the post office this morning, July 1, 2020. The pocket knife has 2 blades and 9 tools. The knife was made in Japan. The leather sheath was made in Mexico. Both are in excellent condition. While I was hoping that the knife was made in Mexico also, I'm no...

Great little knife, and so is your dad's Ulster. ::tu::
Thanks! When I was a kid I had no idea what those things were. I’ll try bending them over in place, not sure why it came like that.

Re: Mail Call !-Post your new pick-ups here............

Not a mail pickup, but a "found in a dusty box" pickup. I thought this was long gone. My old boy scout knife, looking far older than my mental image of myself should allow. I think I would've gotten this in about 1982 or so. Belt clip and all. Mine is the blue Camillus, the Ulster in the 2...

Re: Whats your newest addition to your Buck family and why?

I don't think that's what we're dealing with, or at least not what I was getting at. I've got blades with a curve in the blade, but what I don't like is the point at the base. Basing my decision on the website pictures as to what I wanted to go with, you see a pronounced point. Could be it's there f...

That's unique! Looks like a skinning knife to me, but certainly resembles a fillet or boning knife.
I'll put my money on some kind of specialized skinning knife, maybe even taxidermy related?

Very nice Tom. I like those two. Those small Bokers can be really hard to open, they usually have some very tight springs. I got this GEC Northfield in today. I wasn’t going to order one of these 23 Pioneer trappers, I don’t like trappers, but forgot I had one on early reserve at CK. I’m glad I did...

I mentioned this one elsewhere, but I'll share here anyway. Got this mini Spitfire for my wife, but I like it so much I'm tempted to get one just like it for me, or maybe the larger 722. Even with the engraving it got here in 8 days. Not bad Buck! Well...mine came in today. LOL $24 at SMKW was too ...

Re: Folders that hold the best edge?

IMO, you don't need a knife, you need a strop. For everyday use, just stropping a factory edge on a Buck gets it extremely sharp and you have a strong edge that doesn't dull as fast as something reground at a severe angle to be bragging-rights sharp. They all need some maintenance but it's quick wit...

I don’t know how you do this, but keep it up! I saw some step by step tutorial videos creating scene characters, I plan to take a stab at it. Maybe I can one day work up to it.
