Wow... I just remembered I had an old bottle of Birchwood Casey's Aluminum Black. That did the trick. The pommel took the aluminum black extremely well in one application. The finger guard took two applications to get a complete coating. My knife is starting to get a aged look to it and I'm pleased....

Truthfully, I don't have the knife in my hands at this point. I think for some of this, you either need to see the knife in person or have a really good high definition camera. This may end up being nothing but a piece of junk. A paper weight per say but, I'd like to see what I'm able to do with it....

Is there anyway to remove the dark spots on a carbon steel blade without removing the patina? So far I've used steel wool and WD40. I used Flitz. Even did a little polishing with the dremmel using the red stuff. I got an older blade in real good condition. No pitting and no scratches.

By the way, there are two different knives pictured. One is a Schrade Uncle Henry 171 and the other is a Schrade 498 from their 49er series.
