Potechop,
The 32 is a great old pattern. The 18 is one of the most loved and used pattern that Case makes today and the 32 is often overlooked. I like a 32 in both jack and stockman. How about the 32 mini moose? Anyone like those?

Re: Case XX USA 6249 Factory second
I have owned a couple of lunchbox knives. I think this is one the someone squared off the blade to make a screwdriver. Good discussion.

Re: Blade material discussion
XX Pretty much covered it. Try a CV knife and let us know what you think. They are very easy to sharpen. However, you will get a few spots. I have a user in all three blade materials. The SS blades are much harder to sharpen.

The trapper is a safe bet. They make it in about every flavor under the sun so you are sure to find some you like. I have been tempted to get a 154cm trapper.

Re: Case 30 Small Cigar Pattern
Today Case uses the 090 pattern equal end small cigar as their pattern of choice. I would have liked to see them use the 55 number when they reintroduced it. It is 3 3/8 inches and has a secondary sheepfoot blade. I have carried one and can say it is a fine cutter.

Re: Case Barlow's - had no idea ...
It is not discussed much on the Case forum. But everyone knows what is going on. It is not the Bose collaboration knives that are taking the production. It is the new patterns such as the tear drop, swayback, back pocket. The number of patterns has been cut by about 50%. Surviving patterns include t...

Re: Case Barlow's - had no idea ...
The vault program is discontinued. The knives that they make now are going to be the line up for the foreseeable future. The reason was to make room for the very popular knives re-designed by legendary knife maker Tony Bose. A good example of this would be the tear drop. The swayback and backpocket ...

I am not a fan of the tiny toothpick. I also don't think much of the ever popular teardrop. These two knives have been huge hits with other people.

I will love that knife. I have a second cut red bone 6232 in SS and a stag 5232 with CV (rancher) in my EDC rotation. You can't beat them.

Re: Case "New Grind".
Case does have blades with a less pronounced new grind. All of the Tony Bose come with them. Look closely at a saddlehorn, swayback, tear drop, sowbelly, etc. Compare this to a trapper, whittler, etc. You will see the necks are slightly different.

Knives and Razors by Jim Sargent has the information on page 321. 7th ed which is the newest. 1000 made. 1987. Value $350. The Hawbaker's are highly collected. Many of the cardboard boxes were damaged and discarded over the years. The fact that yours has the trap and box is a nice bonus. Schrade mad...

Lifetime guarantee. They stand behind their product 100%. I think the quality is excellent. Keep in mind most of the knives made today are $25-75. In this price range, they are the best knives made. I always felt people didn't collect the 1980's knives due to the brown/grey color of the handles. Mos...

I would not have believed this was real without first checking "Collecting Case Knives" book. What a spectacular knife. I agree with Elvis, if you have three, you should spread the wealth.

I recommend that you consult with Steve (knifaholic). He may be able to help you. If it is a blade replacement, they may actually need to hold the knife to inspect it closely. Your pictures are pretty good.
