Re: CASSELMAN KNIVES
Thank you. I had an argument with another member and told him it was not made union or in the USA. I did not get back to check for an answer to my question after the first week. I was afraid to find out. I belong to a Steamfitters LU and the General Office is selling these as made in USA. Thanks aga...

CASSELMAN KNIVES
I received a knife from my union as a gift. It is a Casselman Knife. I was told it was made in the USA, but it sure does not look like it. The tang stamp is "Casselman" and the reverse is "STAINLESS STEEL". The bolsters look like China to me. The scales are not well fitted and it...

Re: NEED HELP WITH WINCHESTER QUESTIONS
Elvis, I saw a Winchester banana lockback (with the rifle shield) go for $150 at a gun show in Joplin Mo about 3 months ago. It was in the box and was the same as the one posted above. The dealer had $200 on it. I was surprised by what it sold for. I don't know if that is an average price or not, bu...

Re: Help with a display case
If it was in excellent condition and original, I would not think the price too high, but it looks like someone has used wallboard screws on the top. It would not be worth $200 to me. I bought an original Remington display about that size for less, but it was not very old. I don't know how rare or va...

Re: Hibbard knife
Thanks TJ. I really like it. I know its not rare nor expensive but with the spear blade and the old black handles it does have appeal. I have one other Hibbard with the same handles. No spear blade but it does have a long pull. Looking at them peels away about 40 years for me. Course I lost or broke...

Hibbard knife
I just picked up this Hibbard Spencer Bartlett Co. equal end jack. The back of the spear blade is stamped 2780. I know Camillus and Robeson made some of these knives, but was wondering if anyone had an idea of when this knife was made, who made it and if anyone has seen the pattern number before? Fr...

The counterfiet forum is exactly where this knife belongs. The bolsters have been removed as someone else said. Wasting sympathy on a cheat is just that wasted sympathy.

Re: Need Pattern Help On Case Tested Jack
How long is the knife closed? I have a XX 6235 that is 3-1/4 a 99 would be about an inch longer. The book I have shows the 620035 as having black plastic handles and made from 1950 to 1960. Same length.

I saw on the bay and bid on it until it hit about $70 if memory serves. Don't know what it finished at, but I was surprised at the number of bidders.

Re: McGREW history help please,
I had never heard of McGrew until I saw your post but I do have a knife with that shield. The shield is stamped U*S*A*. Clip blade is stamped "Prov. Cut. Co/Prov. R.I./ U.S.A.". The blade is etched "Spiral Edged". It is an Imperial Knife and I would guess that is who made your kn...

Re: Favorite knife related sayings? quotes?
We are friends with another couple and often, when the need arises for a knife, the wife of my friend will say (every time),"what kind of a man does not carry a knife?" and then give her husband the look. Makes me scared one day I will forget it! Her father worked on the railroad.

I think so Paul. Look at the first picture that Gary posted. May be an illusion, but it almost looks like a shield pinned to another shield.

Better to know that not. I appreciate the information. The blue one is mine. I don't know who owns the Hornet. It was posted here some time last year I think.
I now understand why everyone was leaving it alone and proves that if it looks to good.......
Thanks again,
Joe

Re: Case Tested??
A 6318. It seems almost too good to be true, but I cannot see the shield or the tang well. The answer to someones question was "if you have any doubts, don't bid" does not inspire confidence. I looked in Knives and Razors and they do not show a picture of the 318 with that particular clip ...

Keen Kutter
Below is a Keen Kutter I purchased on eBay. I just received the knife and it is in very good shape. The only problem is that when open the tang of the knife sits about 1/16 below the spring. The knife is like new, and functions perfectly. I know that Keen Kutter did make some colored celluloid handl...

Re: Is this a Case Classic???
It does not have a Case Classic shield. At least not like those I have looked at or have, but I agree it is newer than a Tested. I don't really collect Classics so maybe the shield was used on them?
Would be good to know.

WATERVILLE CUTLERY CO CONN
I was wondering why this knife is going for such a high price. It is a great looking jack knife with an unusual shield but $260.09 with a day left? Must be something special about it. Joe http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=330553835748&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT Jack Knife.jpg
