Re: Fixed blade handle material removal?
Thanks for all the tips, everyone! I tried the drilling method, and the handles came off in about two minutes flat. I was sure they would be glued on for some reason, but I guess that just adds to manufacturing time and costs, huh? Anyway, I will be gluing the new ones on and adding mosaic pins to d...

Fixed blade handle material removal?
I'm not sure if this is the right forum for this question or not, but here goes. Every year I do a little project as Christmas presents for my work team. This year, I would like to give them all customized carving knives and forks for the turkey or ham I will also give them. I was thinking about sta...

Re: Anybody carry and use their S&M's ?
I have several S&Ms, but only carry one on a semi-regular basis. It's the horticulturists knife from series 16 or 17, I believe. But I do like it a LOT!

Re: inlace and filewk
Nice job on that file work! Also, I've used something called inlace before in woodturning. Not sure if it's the same stuff, but if it is, how did you form it? The stuff I used had to be mixed to a paste and used to fill holes or grooves. But a knife handle is pretty open.

Re: Taking Apart A Slip Joint
If you were just looking for a pic of a Swinden type knife apart, with rivets intact, then I also have such a pic. Note: It was a Muskrat pattern, 77OT, with a broken blade. Hope this helps, Dale Dale, I'm not ANYWHERE NEAR ready to start working on folders myself yet, but I'm now curious. I may be...

Re: REAL Schrade or ??
I believe that's one of the contract Schrades that was made by either Camillus or Bear MGC after Taylor bought the Schrade rights after the bankruptcy. All the original Schrade tubes I've ever seen say the knife is made in Ellenville, NY, USA. Of course, that's just my opinion, and as you know, we a...

Re: Any Canal Street Fans Out There?
I have several of them. VERY nice knives. ::tu:: I use my amber bone half-moonpie trapper as a carry knife every few days or so. It feels nice in the hand and fits well in my pocket. The only one I have that I'm not real fond of is the Cannitler. The blades just look a bit out of proportion to the h...

Got these back from the Muskrat Man
Decided to send a couple knives off to Muskrat Man for a little work. I sent him a Schrade LB3 and an old Schrade Walden 136 I picked up on ebay for about $6. Anyway, the first two pics are what I sent to him, and after is what he sent back. That's buckeye burl with red spacers on the LB3. Black ash...
