Re: Schrade questions

I don't have the 147 anymore, traded it for 2 new 34OT's,but it appears to be similar.
Mine didn't show any trace of lacquer on the leather.Mine also had a lot of patina on the blade, which led me to believe it was carbon steel.

Re: Schrade questions

The second is marked SCHRADE-WALDEN N. Y. U. S. A. one one side, and "147" on the other. Not in too bad condition, looks like it was used once. Leather-stack handle, leather sheath. Again, not one I've ever owned (actually, I can only think of a few fixed-blade Schrades I've owned). Quest...

Re: Basic Disassembly, Repair & Reassembly of a Jack Knife.

Dale, Great job in making and posting that tutorial !! :) ::tu:: I can only imagine how much time it took to do that! Your cutlery skills have sure multiplied in the last couple years since we visited you.At that time, you produced excellent fixed blades and were just getting into working on folders....

Twas me poking sticks!

LT, Thanks for posting what info you have on this new Schrade society. I was the guy on the old foruum who was pulling Mr.Voyles chain - mainly because he has not shown a keen interest in Schrades in the past, but when he has something to promote he shows up on the old Schrade forum. I have several o...

Grouchy old men !!

In this day of revisionist history, the text books our children use often spin history to the point that the original story is nearly unrecognizable. My granddaughter came home from school, and was telling us what she had learned about Lewis & Clark. The way she told the story it, Sacagawea was...

There's a copy of Russell's reprint of the Schrade catalog listed on eBay now.
I have one of the original Schrade catalogs but they are hard to find and pretty expensive.

LT, What this younger generation needs,is to go thru a good depression ! Not a recession, but a depression like we had in the 1930's. Sure,a lot of them would lose their big, expensive trophy houses that are mortgaged to the hilt. Some of them may learn that it pays to buy quality tools that last. Som...

My choice !

Rich, I bought a new digital last summer before the wife and I took off on the trip to visit Dale's country. I like to take a lot of wildlife and scenery shots,so I wanted a powerful, optical zoom builtin. My friend has a Mavica like yours and it's been an excellent camera but the zoom capability is ...

A kid's eye candy !!!

LT, Glad to see some pictures of knives that I couldn't afford when I was a kid.Thank you! Those were the days before kids got allowances and money was hard to come by. An Oregon Custom cutler !!

As some of you may recall, the wife and I took the 5th wheel and went to Oregon and Washington state in August and September. We stopped and visited a couple Schradeaholics along the way, namely CrowButte and Orvet.Max and Dale were very gracious hosts and I enjoyed seeing parts of their collections a...

I thought it was frequency over longevity/staying power !
Like my carbon steel Schrades - easy to touch up the edge vs the harder Schrade+ that takes longer to get a good edge.
I may have had 2 much Glennlivet at camp.

This old knife walks'n'talks stronger than any US schrades that I've got.
It also has a strong half-stop.

2nd picture is the Model #.
