Re: Bearclaw Trapper knife kit
I strongly suggest you use the jigged bone for a first knife attempt as the horn is much more difficult to get right.

Case Damascus Barlow with Spiderweb Fossil Coral scales
This knife was done for one of the member here. The photos as good as they are, do not do this knife justice as there is incredible depth in the stone that you cannot see in the photos. The webs in the stone look like they are suspended in glass. The Spiderweb Fossil Coral is incredibly rare and was...

Re: 2010 Christmas Giveaway (ART IN STONE by Redrummd)
Thanks guys.... I do try to do nice things when I can. Paul, What number is that knife? You have had it a while as based on the style of the cut, it is from my "early days". Even now I continue to improve in my skills and it still is nice to see how good my early works are holding up. I se...

Re: 2010 Christmas Giveaway (ART IN STONE by Redrummd)
Thanks for the kind comments. The Black Nephrite Jade is unusual and from the Bob McKenzie claim east of Chico, California. This piece has a really unusual pumkin colored inclusion that I captured intentionally as I have never seen anything like it before. This Jade has spots of either Nickel or Sil...

All, I think the problem was a coding issue as new posts in the Customized Factory Knives were not showing in the "View Active Topics" list when new posts were being added. Basically unless you went into the Customized Factory Knife section no one would see the new threads. I see the link ...

Buck 110 with Regency Rose Plume Agate scales
Redrummd 875PCS - This incredible stone is Regency Rose Plume Agate from the Graveyard Point claim in Oregon. The interest in customized factory knives seemed to disappear for quite a while here so since it seems there is a bit more "traffic" currently I thought I would put up a bit of eye...

Buck 110 with Australian Mookaite scales
I recently found a slab of Mookaite Jasper from Australia with some VERY bright yellow in the stone mixed with the whites and reds. This is a hard to find combination and the only slab this bright I have found in well over a year. Anyway the knife turned out just gorgeous so I thought I would share ...

Re: Buck 110 with their Damascus blade and Psilomelane scale
The Damascus blade is by Buck knife company. They have not had any for several years though.
Pins are not possible for stone but the stone ABSOLUTELY will not come off. You need a hammer and chisle to remove the stone in pieces and the actual knife is usually destroyed....

Re: Buck 110 with their Damascus blade and Psilomelane scale
Case has designated the Seahorse as a heirloom or special pattern and do not intend to do any more runs until 2013 according to a knife publication I get. Of course with the economy being what it is it would not suprise me a great deal if they start up sooner.

Buck 110 with their Damascus blade and Psilomelane scales
It has been a long time since I posted any pictures but things have slowed down recently so I have time to post more. The stone used is Psilomelane, which was only found in one location - The Crown Of Silver mine in Mexico. This stone is also known as Crown Of Silver for the same reason. Crown of Si...

Re: Confessions! Rough Rider Poll
I use USA made knives for nearly all of my works but I do occasionally use a Buck tiny trapper knife that they had made for them in China. I have heard they are planning to bring them all back to be made in the USA and I would like that even better. Buck has the coolest tiny trapper knife I have fou...

Pretty weird for the seller to block you. If I wasn't a Ebay knife seller I would write and ask him why.... If he is qwackers I don't want him causing me grief as a Ebay seller though.

Re: Help on carrying
The best workhorse knife for the dollar spent is a Buck 110 at around $30.00 plus shipping. If you want to go to S30V steel go to Buck's website and for around $80.00 delivered you can get one from their custom shop.

Re: removing scales
1. Tape blade for safety. 2. Cut off tops of center pin and scale pins with a dremel cut off wheel. 3. Pry off one scale with a sharp knife. Be carful not to use much force or you will roll the edge of the liner. It should come off pretty darn easy if you have the pins cut down deep enough. 4. Pry u...

Re: carbon or stainless steel
I live on a very humid Island surrounded by salt water so I carry stainless blades. In my opinion the newer stainles steels are incredibly tough and really hold an edge. I carry one in S30V and another in 13C26. The S30V does hold an edge a bit better but both are great. In the kitchen I recently pu...
