Re: Henckel knife questions(shield fell off)

IIRC it was Floyd, aka dogleg, who said the German word “Böker” means “missing shield”. Ken Got to be true. if I had a dollar for every BOKER I have seen with missing shield, I could give you half the money and still be rich. I have replaced with any number of circle things that fit and impro...

Thanks for posting the link. Surprised someone has not at least shown one off from their collection. George made a lot of knives in his long career.

Found Jean Case Cut Co Little Valley NY knife. Woodcraft pattern blade. Went to a black powder rendezvous over the weekend. Thru the years have found some good knives in such venues.

Re: Miller Bros Navy Gravity Knife

Fantastic examples! I have seen these before with the lanyard "ring" attached to the end of the knife. The top example is the first I can recall seeing with the bail/shackle put through the scale and liner. Do you have any insight into why the top example has the "through the scale a...

Great picks of smachet and love the Stone made knife. The fur trade era knives also known as Beaver Tail knives. Designed for a single purpose much like the Fairburn Sykes of WW 2. Purely a weapon.

Not at all frivolous, just ask my wife! A bit curious about your maker mark. Could interpret as a cross or deer track. And maybe it’s both.

Re: On Line Auction

On line auctions at a challenge for sure. Poor pictures and even poorer descriptions are the norm. I have gotten some good knives but have experienced buyer’s remorse also. Sometime I feel is another form of legalized gambling.

Oh heck I like all old tools. Lol You are with a like minded lot. Can you show some of your fencing pliers? I sure will. Got to unearth em in my shop. In an organized (not) pile under a couple feet of other stuff too good to throw away. Give me a day or two to outfit the expedition. It possible I c...

Fence pliers are something I pick up when I find one I don’t already have. Think I have a dozen or more and probably have not scratched the surface of variety. Farriers hammers are another weakness. Oh heck I like all old tools. Lol

Re: Custom Trapper K D W ???

I have found many custom knives with excellent workmanship and the maker is known except for the area they worked. Tracking down who Made em is a daunting challenge in many cases. I see folks making very nice knives and selling them for $100-500. I buy because I like, not cause I think they will inc...

Sa-weeeet!!! Thanks. I have fallen for Black powder in a big way. Kinda think those cartridge guns are just a fad. Heck just look at how hard it is to get ammo for em. That’s gotta be proof. lol. I'd love to get into black powder, but NJ laws are a real hassle. Besides, even trying to find time to ...
