Re: Outdoorsman Thread

Life is great GD, I got married last month and it’s the most fulfilling thing I’ve ever experienced.

The squirrels are out in full and our season is quickly approaching. I was just thinking of something to make if I go bag a bunch.

Re: Outdoorsman Thread

The morning started off great, had a couple little ones out in front, but wasn’t seeing their mama. 9A14B50B-5A2A-4DB3-A8B5-F6E570204844.jpeg As I was enjoying them playing in the field I had a Dutchy invade the property so I had to go kick him off. The evening was nice! Had 4 long beards cross out ...

Re: Outdoorsman Thread

TF, those pics are awesome! I Would find myself right at home in your stand that’s for sure! These hunting shacks have housed most of my family and have helped put venison on the table for years. It gets boring to watch a field for hours on end waiting for something to burst from the wood line, so b...

Re: Outdoorsman Thread

We have a 53 acre farm that is mostly fields, overlooking that field we have two “kill huts”. First the “Hilton”. Fully insulated, added some flip up bench rests and some spinning office chairs since these pics. AF3702A5-8D1A-400E-B5E7-FD5C617ABAB5.jpeg F245F96C-D015-4670-B258-7DA1405E4E28.jpeg Then...

Re: Outdoorsman Thread

None of these pics are in the correct order, but you can see the many hands that are putting the work in. My nephew cooper is the next generation to waiting to hunt the farm, but until then he makes a pretty good foreman of our group (watches everyone else work and doesn’t say much). 71BEEA64-0275-4...

Re: Outdoorsman Thread

Long time no see guys. I hope everyone is doing well! We started a new project a couple weeks ago for a “kill hut”, “hunting Château”, stand. Basically it’s a snipers tower in the little bit of woods that we have, it will cover the escape routes that our deer seem to take once they leave the field. ...

Re: Outdoorsman Thread

The compliments are much appreciated gentlemen. OH, Robert Ruark is one of my absolute favorites, along with Jim Corbett and peter capstick. TreeFarmer, I had shot that rifle on Friday and I was pleasantly surprised to see a nice clover leaf pattern. The rifle shoots, it was all on the shooter. I'll...

Re: Outdoorsman Thread

Just an hour, or so before dropping my deer I was in the hollows chasing some bushytails around. There are still too many leaves on the trees for good shooting with my CZ 22., but I still managed a couple.

GD, congrats on an awesome adventure! That moose is a beast and the work is part of what makes the hunt special! Monk, looks like some good eating right there! Best of luck filling that freezer. Re: Outdoorsman Thread

Thank to you all for the kind compliments!
Small game comes in on the 15th and I'm already getting psyched for that. My brother is going to take the inline for a walk in the morning and I'll see what I can do about some bushytails around lunch time.

Uncle Jim's Ithaca 37. "Uncle Jim" is a coworker of mine who is quite the character, one I had only heard about from my brother before I ended up working with him myself. Jr (my brother) would tell stories about "Uncle Jim" all while doing an impression that turned out to be spot...

The crickets are singing, the farmer's tractor putters along and the evening begins to wind to a close. A warm coffee by my side and a few dove couing overhead tie this evening together. October is a special month for me, it's forever been a favorite of mine since I was little, before I could even h...

GEC #53 stockman... Used!

I got this one used and continued to use it myself. It's definitely a stout blade that's for sure! It has been sharpened, it does come with the original tube. I opened a pack of hot dogs and didn't wipe the blade and it spent a humid evening by a campfire, the result was some spots on the blade. I c...
