Re: Kinfolks U.S.A.
Stockman,I would agree that $800.00 is a bit steep. That was 8, $1.00 bills for the knife. Sorry about the pics. Even had my wife working on the problem. My camera just will not upload. One web page I was reading said that those handles were the most requested by customers. The knife is shown in Kin...

I know, I know, I'm committing the ultimate sin.......... posting without a pic, but really, my camera won't upload! Went to another estate sale yesterday. Bought one of the most knarly looking knives I've run across in some time. Appears as though the previous owner mistook the penetrating oil can ...

A Knife Friday
Got to an estate sale early this morning, so I walked across the street to a yard sale that was hoping to profit from all the foot traffic the estate sale was going to make. It Worked!! They had a Rubbermaid container sitting at the payment table with 7 knives in it. Needless to say, I walked away $...

Need too get ready for a hospital trip at the VA today, but not before I commend everyone for a great show of used, abused, and refused, but in this case not refused cutlery! So happy to see that I'm not alone in collecting knives far past their prime. Thanks again ! ( should be a minimal charge for...

Dale, I can't tell you specifically what steel was used in the makings of your Kinfolks, but I can share a little of the info which I have. By 1926, 16 variations of Case Knife Co's. have come and most have gone. There were 32 Case corporations that existed from1902 to the present. In 1926 Tint Brow...

Re: Utica Kutmaster.... The Rodney Dangerfield of knives?
Jerry, you had a pic on pg. 2 and asked if that knife was made by Utica. I just recently bought a fixed blade minus the pocket knife that has etched on it; KUTMASTER, Utica Cutlery Co. Dang good steel in that blade. Put a great edge on it. I have 2 other similar looking fixed blades, one is an Imper...

Thanks fellas' for the kind words. The winterbottom Queen was a gift my Dad received from his brother in-law. Dad kept it wrapped in a sock in his top dresser drawer. Every so often I would ask to see the knife, he would oblige me, always cautioning me on handling the knife. Always stressing when ha...

Re: Unknown maker
Stagman is correct Phil. Elk have 2 ivory teeth in their mouth. They are actually incisor teeth, left from the evolvement of the elk from ancient times. Elk are now browsers. The older they are the more beautiful the ivories are. Cut out of the mouth, they make for a beautiful piece when mounted on a...

Here's a nice 9 inch Queen my Dad gave me. He got it in the mid - 1950's. The second pic is a KA-BAR I recently picked up at an estate sale. The original handle I believe has been replaced with the wood one your now looking at. The blade on the KA-BAR is in excellent shape though. Bull

This is a small 5 inch fixed blade that doesn't have any identifiable marks on it. It is well made and takes a good edge. I have only used it for cutting out the ivories on a couple of bull elk. I picked the knife up for $5.00 at an estate sale. Bull

I don't know if this is working or not......... but here goes. This is a pic of the # 380 Hunter, Kinfolks. It's rough, some owner has taken the bolster off at some time in it's life, but didn't replace the stacked leather properly, but........ For the sake of owning a Kinfolks it was worth the buy ...

Kinfolks U.S.A.
Scored this morning with a Kinfolks mdl. # 380 Hunter. It came from an estate sale. The knife had been stored for the last 20 or so years. A little rough looking, some call it character, but still a very functional fixed blade knife. I need to make a new sheath for it. It was in an old thin buckskin...

Hey Treefarmer, The candy stripe folding hunter, based on the new tang stamp post, list's that knife as being in production from '35 to 1945. Nah, I didn't get the camera, but I got a dang nice espresso machine. So if some of my post's come across a bit jazzed up, it's the espresso ! LIKE RIGHT NOW!...

oL' Cut, Union Cutlery Co.
Picked up a couple of KA-BARS actually this weekend past. Nice 5.25 inch thin clasp, swell center. Red Candy stripe celluloid handles. Blade is good and solid, no wobble and good snap. Tang stamped oL' Cut, Union Cutlery Co., Olean N.Y. Second I believe is a WW 2 issue. Not the original handle, I do...
