Re: Basket Case

Well done. Makes you wonder how anyone could have shaved with a frown like that. I guess the old hands were tough.
I ought to sort through my pile and see if there's any you might want to mess with. I've got about a 60 day rotation now and am pretty much out of the mood to rework any more.

That's interesting. I've got a couple of the dies used to make those. They came from Burrell Cutlery.

Re: An Very Unusual Blue Wire Jack

I've got one with matching blue paint, hawk bill blade, and advertising logo on the blade. Paint was also on the frame of mine.
Perhaps they did their advertising versions in blue.

Old school. ::tu:: I'm not much on muzzle loaders but that unmolested Springfield is treasure. ::ds:: That's a MKI made for the Perdersen Device with a oddball scant stock. Most all had the straight grip stocks. Barrel date Jan, 1919. S/N is about that too. Doesn't appear to have ever been issued. ...

Super nice looking flintlock. I know what you mean about eye sight. Getting tougher to clearly see the sights.
I'm getting new lenses for my eyes. Cataracts are making night time driving to much of an adventure. Hopefully I can throw these trifocal glasses away too. 😁

Nice old flintlock Owd Wullie, is that a reproduction or an antique? Gorgeous either way. Thanks. It's a reproduction. Built by Wm Mowery in 1981. Douglas bbl, Siler lock..40cal tack driver. I won several meets and several impromptu matches with it before my eyes went south. 3 shot group at 50yds o...

Re: How many is too many?

I have always been amazed that there were so many companies making razors and so many different handles and etchings etc. I realize its like anything once the factory was running and you had a system you could turn them out and even private label etc. But still amazing imo Ross There was a lot of v...

I always thought it was unique Appreciate the information!! I think part of what is amazing to me is these still survive and in some cases could still be used after all these years. Neat stuff!

Nice marque! ::tu:: I am hoping to learn something here; my impression is that almost all American razors were imported from England and Germany? Late 18th until late 19th century, England had the cutlery market pretty well to themselves and exported their wares worldwide. In the 1890s, the Germans...

Here's a old timer in a box. Inside in pencil claims was bought in 1796. Always figured an antique dealer wrote that in to help sell it but still fun to think about. Some kind of horn handle. Note the pins Clark &Hall Warranted I've heard this type of case was covered in leather so you could st...

That is a beauty! And it's the first I've seen.
Thanks for confirming about what age I figured they'd be.
As for HSB, I'm thinking they did pretty much whatever was available from whoever they contracted their knives from. I've seen several NYK versions of knives with HSB markings.

Re: T BAR K (Michael Fisher) Knives

Tank, aka, Mike Fisher was a dear friend. Met him in the early 80s. I was making a few knives and he would hang around and ask a lot of questions. He decided he was going to be a knife maker. He rigged up a little shop in a shed beside his house and went to work with a grinder that was also his buff...
