This new stuff to me, maybe a lot to learn...

Okay after I posted and learning I got a Canal Street and very nice. Now I want to move on some and am looking at the GEC and Tuna Valley. Now how much difference is there and is there a clear choice. Oh learning but not real fast I fear.

But these are nice knives for sure.

Re: How good is this new stuff?

I do appreciate the input for sure. I just have not looked at many factory knives being a custom maker and that is what I have had. But now I do want to try one or maybe more of these. Thank you so much...

How good is this new stuff?

I see some new stuff n the market and am just curious about how they are. Tuna Valley, GEC and Canal Street are all there and the knives look good with different steel for the blades and fantastic handle material. Just how good are these?

The 52 pattern, two blade, Now that is my knife...

Some time ago I started to enjoy the Case 62052 which has become my favorite knife for sure. Sometimes called the half congress the 52 pattern is known for the four blade even more. But the two blade sometimes called the half congress is such a fine little knife. Anyone share this thought?

Just curious. I have a red stag, with the box and thought at one time Case marked with a "R" on the blade. Not so I guess but did that ever happen?

Re: Hen and Rooster

Hen and Rooster was Bertram all the way ending that reign with C Bertram knives. AG Russell bought in 1975 continued the line and the firm closed in 1980 and Frost and associates began the label "Bertram Cutlery" which was never on a Bertram knife before.

Re: Hen & Rooster knife

I consider Hen and Rooster really fine knives. History is quite simple. Bertram including C Bertram and a host of other companies like Voss, Gutmann etc. and then AG Russell in 1975 to 1980 and then Frost. Frost uses "Bertram Cutlery" which is not on any original knives. My advice is to av...

Re: C. Bertram

I think a lot of Jim Sargent but the C Bertram are before 1975 for sure. For Some reason Hen and Rooster are difficult for some to understand. Simple with several companies using the Bertram knife and C Bertram until AG Russell and then Frost with the "Cutlery" added.

Hen & Rooster does have a history

I love H&R knives. The fantastic knife has changed over time and I am not sure who knows what or maybe wants to know what... Carl Bertram was the founder and with a small staffed factory made the most outstanding knives ever. After over a hundred years the business sold to AG Russell who kept it...

There have been a lot written on glues. I use Loctite, never failed, and that is the brand I like. I quit Devcon long ago and have never missed it but it was the easiest to get for sure.

How about a new price guide?

Most folks I know have a Parker price guide in their hand when they look, deal or want another Case knife. The prie guide number 9 is getting some age. Anyone know of when a update may come?
