Didn’t know his cat was named Godspeed, funny cat name, but I’m wishing him well and hoping he recovers soon.

Re: Stockman Syndrome: A Strange Bond
Boxes, I keep mine in boxes. Generally speaking, I can only see the top layer of the stockman contents, so the symptoms aren’t as obvious (unless you look in my pockets, or on my headboard, or the dresser, or the end table beside my sofa…) But most of them are in boxes. Big boxes, cause I favor the ...

Re: AI knife descriptions available on eBay listings
Mark, reading your description I could actually form a mental picture of the knife in question. You actually mentioned details about the knife, and didn’t blow smoke up my skirt about how owning it would make me feel. “Whether you are a fan of vintage knives or modern designs, this item is sure to p...

Thank goodness those days are behind you. Now, no need to maintain such a facade, and you can carry any knife you want.

Re: Has the World Gone Insane? Is this a Sign of The End Times?
Nah V42, ya still got 10 good ones… I see this poll as a trick question, somewhat similar to “is the .22LR a rifle or pistol cartridge?” I’d place a large wager that most members here own a variety of different handled knives, on my person right now are knives with wooden and Delrin handles, and man...

So great, The earliest pocket knives discovered date from 600BC in Austria. Did any of THEM have plastic handles, huh?
Newfangled rubbish. Kids these days don’t know how good they have it.

If there’s room on Herb’s wagon for one more, I’ll climb on. With the disclaimer that I don’t resell knives, so what buyers like (as if I could predict that anyway) is way outside my wheelhouse. But I know what I like. Patina, repaired damage from hard use, functional edge and tip. I’m okay with all...

Re: Someone is smoking something
Y’know, every knife I’ve made has had a production error. In fact, I can’t recall any that only had one (some have several).
Does that mean the more errors, the more valuable my knives are? I probably can’t afford my own knives anymore, if so.

All kinds of choices, at all kinds of price points. This just in: peoples’ opinions differ! In other news, many persist in making own decisions anyway. I have friends who think it’s crazy to spend 20 or more hours making a knife, when I could buy one for less than an hour’s wage. I’ve had fellow kni...

Sorry to hear of your loss.
That’s a nice old piece. I’d carry it awhile and use the two other blades, while thinking of your friend.
Might do his widow good as well to know you’re putting it back to work sometimes.

The lower one with the “Alaska” antler handle is an ulu, traditional to some natives there. I had an old buddy who made them from worn out circular saw blades.

I’ve seen that name recently (well, 80s and 90s) on various hand tools. Screwdrivers, chisels, utility knives, etc.

Sure looks like an investigation is in order. The ferrule is too shiny as well, its reflection could blind other motorists on the highway.

No problem, I understand. I’m kinda a technological cripple myself, doesn’t take much clicking and swiping before my limit is reached. But I do recognize good knife work when I see it, and I’ve always been happy with yours. It’d be a shame for the marketing details to drag you down from working on k...

Nice. I’ve seen those before but never used one. I still use a 3/4” peg in a round hole.
