Re: New York Knife jack

Wayne, I agree with you regarding the stamping. I have never seen one, pre 1931, that boldly stamped nor with the rounded corners. Never seen one with jigging like that either. The one thing that strikes me even more odd is the master blade. I suppose they may have had one like that but... The clip ...

Re: WWII Pilot's Survival Knife Restoration

TJ, Now that's a knife. ::woot:: They were blued, Called Blackened in the Day as Philco mentioned. As in your hand you know it was a knife that many including myself would pick over many, as a knife to have as a survival knife, that includes anything made today. I have one like it and would choose i...

Re: Two Hammers

Thanks guys. I thought the etch meant a New York knife. It's mighty snappy. Mickey, there may be a NY stamping further down the tang hidden by the bolster. Can't see it if there is. Thanks again. I believe the NYKC knife is an earlier version of the hammer brand logo. I know I read that some of the...

60's Cars To Change the future

Hello All, In addition to pocket knives, I have always been interested in Older cars, Specifically the Corvair. Many people know the Corvair as doom and gloom from Mr. Ralph Nader.... ::td:: Anyway there is much more to be said about the car and its legacy. Does anyone here own a Turbocharged car to...

Winding Down

Hi Fellas, Another couple weekends ought to do it. Today we finished most of the upper trim work. The couple pics can give one a view of the small but valuable space in such a small cabinet. All that is left to do is upper compartment cover and lower base trim. Of course some touch up if necessary. ...

Re: Its Happening Again

Jerry, I did put a couple of positions in if someone was so inclined to move the shelves. However my real motivation was for aesthetics and how the simple system seems to match the period of useful designs. I ended up inverting the sides from these pics to face outward. The cabinet is so small there...

It's hard when your honest to a fault Mossdancer, ::disgust:: but then inner peace is worth it. I tend to think the same as Charlie's post. I also don't believe this qualification was created to be absolute, there can be many variables, especially in older used pieces. It seems that with all the exa...

Getting Close

Had some time today to work on the project. Choose the Trim for the top, and added some 1/4" Oak Scroll design. I planned this in my head all along but didn't know what the design should be. I opted for the same profil I used in the upper crest. eg. starting in the center the crown shape for th...

Re: Its Happening Again

Wlf,

Thanks for you comment. It is really a fun thing for me to do. Yes, heavily flavored with old cutlery, but then again old cutlery is really my passion. Creating cabinets like this bring me back to the old days, seems to fit very well for me. Almost no effort, and more like total fun.

Jerry, as a precision shooter I suspect you might like the 2nd one here. That said It has remained a virgin so far other than Sigs Test target they supplied me with

Jerry, Between me and you, the Sig Round your are speaking of is all about money, There is NO Gain at all other than spending (3) time the money for a interesting round of ammo. I asked the same question to myself and many shooting partners prior to selecting the other capable calibers. All said, Be...
