An everyday carry side knife owned by many German men and carried in their lederhosen, belt or boots. Sometimes called a jagdmesser or knicker, or nicker. Your example is quite nice.

Tip, not top.
The scabbard for this pattern knife usually comes to a point where as yours is squared off as if the tip piece is missing.

What Roland said except not a piece of the tip missing, rather if there is a threaded hole then a fork would screw into the scabbard and would serve as the handle. That's the reason I asked if the tip of the scabbard had a hole in it. A unique and rare combination, I have such a set around here somewhere.
