Show off your Maher and Grosh knives

William H. Maher and Emil Grosh started the Maher & Grosh Wholesale Cutlery Co. in 1877 with a goal to sell high quality US manufactured cutlery globally. The original business dissolved in 1988, but the brand has since been resurrected.

I just went to the Mayer & Grosh website and it said "No knives available". Did not show what knives were available but now sold out, which i think it did when i last visited the site.
Does anyone know if all the GEC made M&G knives are sold out ?
Are there any more knives coming 'in the pipeline' ?

They had some " Boys Bail & Chain Knives " left, they are obviously all gone, so yes, they are all sold out. I cannot answer your other question.

Thanks cudgee. I too had thought there were some Boy's knives still available. Good to see them sold out. I hope there will be more.

Here are two I picked up. No etch, light stamps, and plenty of wear but fit nicely in my moose pile.

Thought I would go ahead and post this old Maher and grosh. It’s one of those you got to be careful closing or you might need stitches. I call it a blood seeker!

Here's a very similar M & G that I guess you could call a barlow. Has really nice brass bolster and extremely strong springs. A very beefy knife that fits well in your hand. Also has a heavy spine long pull. Unfortunately, the only one I have.

I would consider that a heavy jack instead of Barlow.I'm guessing the master is a very thick blade.

It's a heavy jack, for sure. The main is very thick, the spine of the pull is about an 1/8" wide. Very well built knife, the long brass bolster gives it a different look. Not sure of the age.

Mine will not win any beauty contest but you best not have anything you value in the way when you’re closing it. Snaps like a bear trap opening and closing with firm half stop.

Posted this 4 years ago but, being one of my top ten favorites. here it is again. Can't say who made it, but the steel, the edge, and the quality are top shelf. Whoever owned it was an expert sharpener. That spring is nearly 3/16' thick. It is scary to handle. J.O'.
