Howdy all AAPK members and folk's browsing this great site....Jerry and I were
conversing back & forth on the Marble's Woodcraft thread, and he said it would be
nice for everyone to know the dates on this era Marble's knives, I agreed with him 100%
especially since 90% plus of knives I collect, and sell in my AAPK store are Marble's So here is the Code for the spacer system during the 1997-2002

Thank you Will. That's very helpful.

Hi Dave, i have a Marbles USA 8" DP HUnter with "R.W.Loveless Approved/W.L.Marble" etched in an oval on blade just below proximal spine. It has the same spacers as your lower picture which you say is 1999. But the '99 has 2 red spacers whereas yours & mine have 1 red spacer. All the rest are correct for '99.
Maybe Will can comment on this ? Maybe some were made with only 1 red spacer ? or from a year other than '97-02 ?
kj
Edit to add: Will i went to your store. What a treat & lots of helpful information.
My Marbles is the same as the "Sport 99" but with a cocobolo handle, and spacers are not the same.
The spacers in my knife are the same as your "STAG AG LIL' HANDY HUNTER" but you don't give a date for this SFO for AGR.

This has been in my box for some years. I seem to remember being told (forgot to write it down) it was a model with limited production, Management was out of town when it started and got shut down when they got back, not liking the brass pommel?
Looked again, this matches the picture shown for a 99 with a single red but the text says 2 bands?
Any info greatly appreciated.

I was looking at his store for examples. I think it might have been Mike S who made the ID back then on Bladeforums.kootenay joe wrote:Schmoozer, we need stagman to come back. He's the guy who knows his Marbles.

Howdy guys...had the store shut down for 2 weeks and just re-opened last nite
Have not been on the puter and to complicate matters and my time,
my wife has Lupus and is in a flair right now
Could be 2 skinny spacers that look like 1
could be a transition model with the red spacers in question
or , being hand made, 1 at a time back then, could have been a goof up
as the red is the only spacer in question
KJ, they only made the LoveLess models from 1999, 2000, 2001...
thats it , not before and not past them 3 yrs
anyways, gotta run, wife has doc app.

I can't seem to find a way to date my old MARBLES Knife. It doesn't seem to fit into any category that I have found. My computing skills at age 86, have just about gone down the drain. I will post a picture, and maybe someone will be able to date it. Thanks.

Very Unusual?
Hi, All:
This Marbel's knife must be extra unusual, I posted a picture of it here, June 12, 2017, with no response. Am I am asking for information in the wrong way or place. I've had this knife since I was a boy, and I'm now 86. I swapped another boy out of it. It was used when I got it, and and when I was young, and ignorant, I cleaned it up a very little bit, liked it, and carried it when hunting etc. It has been unused for many years. I would just like to get an idea of when it was made, but haven't been able to find much about it. Can anyone help this old computer illiterate "poop" find information on it? Thanks.

I have been trying to get a better picture of the stamp on my Marble's knife that you Identified as a Full Hilt Ideal. You stated that you would need a better stamp picture to help Identify this knife. Here is what I came up with. Hope it helps. Thanks.

That looks like the small Marble's mark..Pre WW 2.....
if you can tell up close if the A has a mark that is worn off but
looks at one time too loop to the left, then its 1915-35 likely
take a loop and give it a close look

Stagman:
Thanks, Stagman, for your thoughtful response to my inquiry about the age, and markings on my old Marble's knife. I have not been able to discern what you are saying about the A being worn off, as it seems to be all there. About the mark looping to the left, I don't understand. Since I had the knife during WW2 , I think it is safe to say that it was made in the 1915- 1935 era. I still don't know why the washers, and spacers show as they do, but I still love this old knife, and remember the English Commando dagger, that I traded for it, the boy that I traded with, to get the marble's knife, and am going to enjoy it just as it is regardless of it's history.

On a lot of pre WW2 Marble's knives, the A has a left facing loop on it...
as they used the stamp, that part of the stamp wore down and they kept using it
you can discern this feature on some if you look real close
Also, the spacers that were used in that era had NO sequence to them as far as dating the knife
