Old marble
Old marble
Could someone give me info on this knife? I picked it up at an estate sale...
Re: Old marble
Can't tell by pic, if loop that goes across on the A is facing right, post WW2, 1940's
if its straight line across A, no little loop coming out its earlier
and its a stacked leather Ideal model, half hilt

Re: Old marble
The business of dating Marbles knives by the crossing of the letter A is not accurate by any means. The guy who wrote that in his book was incorrect. Just because something is written in a book does not make it true.
Re: Old marble
The left facing A was used from early 1900 teens to the 1930's
also used in the 1970's and 1997-2002....right facing used post WW2,...and on some
of the newer knives as well....all I do is look at the
condition of the knife, and guess what era it came from...
you seem to know more than any one who published any info about Marble's
knives gunsil, Conrad Schreier in 1978, Arni Dunathan in 2004,
thats the only publications I know of, maybe you should write one and help out all of us
so do the guy a favor and answer his question when it was made
Thats all I am trying to do

Re: Old marble
I have no Marbles knowledge to contribute, but I did enlarge the picture in case that helps those who can make an evaluation.
Re: Old marble
I would guess that one seeing the enlarged pic to be 1940's
to maybe early 1950's....Thats when that stamp was used..Great job there Ralph, at making it easy to see
