Marble's Folding Safety Hunter Knives

Webster Marble formed Gladstone Mfg. Co. in 1892. That company created the first folding Axe in 1893 which lead to the incorporation of Marble's Safety Axe Co. in 1898. The company became Marble Arms & Mfg. Co. in 1911 & enjoyed years of success until succumbing to a shut down of production in 1974. The brand was brought back to life in 1994 & enjoyed a grand rejuvenation that later gave way to another shutdown in 2009. Many great knives & tools were crafted over the company's storied history.

Marble's Folding Safety Hunter Knives

Postby 1967redrider » Tue Aug 06, 2019 3:26 pm

I recently picked up a 5" folding Safety Hunter to go along with the two 4 1/2" knives that I have had for several years. The stag on this is gorgeous and it came with a pocket sheath. It would be too big for comfortable pocket carry in my opinion but would work perfectly as a belt knife. Pretty decent condition, I think its only issue is it was stored in the leather sheath for a long time.

What a nice addition to the two you had. I think the large 5" swell center frame knives are much more attractive than the 4 1/2" models. Awesome stag!
If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

Thank you! ::handshake:: I think the stag on the pile side of the middle knife looks pretty red when the three are put together. Trying to revive the Marble's forum, hoping others will post theirs here too. ::nod::

Those are three very nice old Marbles, RedRider. I have one of the China versions which I bought just because I find the pattern kind of intriguing. Those American ones are great!

Gorgeous Stag Red !!! You see way more than not with stag
that does not look as good that one !!! ....and that middle one does look
to be aging red if it were not that color before...I know
Webster Marble used to buy a major portion of his stag
from Germany, cause when WW1 broke out, it was a lot
scarcer on Marble's knives.
Here is one more for the parade

Nice, stagman, is that a 5" or 4 1/2"? Thanks to you and Dinadan. ::handshake::

Here's a 4-1/2" I picked up at the Tulsa arms show last November. The belt sheath is a reproduction of the original made by me.
