Victorinox sharpener - The discreet model

Post by FRJ »

I bought this Victorinox sharpener the other day at a flea market for cheap.
It looks like it will accommodate fish hooks and small blades.
I've never seen one before. Might be worth having in my kit.
Made in Germany. 5 1/2" long.

I picked up two of these just couple of weeks ago. Ideal for quickly sharpening a SAK or other traditional style pocket knives.

Pretty good design for just keeping in a pocket/bag. Pull-throughs don't work, most diamond stones are pricey (and besides, the small DMT keychain/pocket diamond plates are TINY!), and I'm always afraid of getting the small 1950s-era Bear Abrasives/Norton carborundum stone I keep in my fencing tool bag broken. I absolutely love the Worksharp Guided Field Sharpener, but it's too big for pocket carry. This seems like a really good solution for an emergency sharpening tool.

Is the material bonded ruby?

Thank you, Cody.
I have never heard of "bonded ruby"; Sounds like a 70s party wine.
My guess is that this is colored Carborundum. Just a guess.
