This talk about Vince Gill reminded me of one of my favorite songs, with a great message. Note in the video are Vince Gill singing background harmony, and accompanied by Leroy Parnell on lead guitar. Warning - this song gets in your head - at least in mine anyway. I find myself singing the chorus in my mind.

Your right Ken, now I'll be playing that over and over in my mind, but it's a beautiful song.

As good as any version of Leon Payne’s Lost Highway since Hank Williams. Steel guitarist is awesome!

Here's one of my few favorite "modern" tunes. One of the few, new country songs, that actually has something good going on ::nod:: .

It’s been a while since anything was posted here, so I’ll go. I like old country (oddly enough so do my high school students). Imo nobody could sing old honky tonk heart break songs any better than Web Pierce!

Same song, but as a duet later in his life with Willie Nelson. It’s good too.

Is there anyonecWillie hasn’t sung a duet with? ::shrug::  I fixed it for you. So many different artists have done that song but nobody does it better than Webb Pierce. I posted another cover of this great song several pages back in this thread, by a black artist named Ted Hawkins. viewtopic.php?f=117&t=20513&p=599534&hi ... ns#p599513

I was watching Ken Burns documentary on country music (I highly recommend it btw) and they were talking about all the bus tours that went by and to the homes of the country music stars around Nashville. One of the big attractions was Web Pierce’s blue guitar shaped swimming pool in his front yard.

It was so popular that Web bought some mason jars and started selling a jar of his pool water for $1 a piece. And people scooped them up. lol!

There is a picture of that pool included in the YouTube video about halfway through it.

I noticed the Ted Hawkins YouTube link I posted a while back is no longer working. Here’s another link for anyone interested. Ted Hawkins (R.I.P.) was quite an interesting, and very talented character.

Just heard we lost Jerry Jeff Walker to cancer yesterday. I’ve drank many a beer listening to him, saw him open for Willie at a concert in San Diego years ago. He’s had some great hit songs but here’s my favorite (which was not a hit). It’s about a cowboy who gave up monetary riches for some finer things in life.

R.I.P. “Jacky Jack”.

The latest from one of my favorite artists. Gotta love the opening line “I can see you’re a woman of taste by your Reba McEntire tattoo.”

A little something from one of my neighbors, Kevin Deal. He wrote it, that’s him singing it. I guess you could classify it as bluegrass gospel. ::shrug::
