This 6 minute video from 2004 is a tribute to George Harrison that covers While My Guitar Gently Weeps. It features the late Tom Petty on vocals and I found it while looking for one his performances. It also features Prince on guitar. I knew Prince was talented, but didn't feel like I could appreciate his style of music. I have a different perspective on Prince after watching this.

If you like "Soul", this young lady is a tiny package with more soul than any ten artists combined.

Best rock song that's ever been written IMO. Bob Seger, "Turn The Page"

I've mourned the apparent death of analog rock 'n' roll for quite some time. I do, however, recognize the artistry of certain pop songs and artists in modern times, but for the most part there's not an easy transition from the music I've loved for the past ~30 years to today's "hits".

So when one of my favorite 90s/00s bands released their latest single, I was surprised to discover that it primarily showed up on the pop and "alternative" stations. It's not representative of the group's "classic" period but I think it demonstrates a smart, nuanced evolution in sound while refusing to abandon what brung 'em.

I too lament the days of seminal rock and roll. Not a fan at all of the synthesized rock so popular today. Here's a nearly 40 year old classic from a Texas music icon, recorded last year at a live concert. Fans of Texas music will recognize some of the all-star band members. Real, honest rock and roll.

Cope sent an email to me recommending this song and I'm glad he did. I know nothing about Pink or her music but if it's all similar to this, I just might give a listen to her at some future date. Thanks Cope for the suggestion.

If you like 1970's classic rock that is performed with guitars, drums, thoughtful lyrics, and a whole lot of zeal - and you have 17 minutes to kill - you might want to watch / listen to this live recording of Thin Lizzy from 1976 on a show called Midnight Special.

Snuffy, your musical tastes is eclectic across multiple genres, according to recent posts.
You and I would get along well, I think . . . . 8)

The wife and I saw Tesla, REO Speedwagon and Def Leppard in '16
followed by Joan Jett, Cheap Trick and Heart a month later.

We saw G n R in '91 shortly after our HS graduation. At the horse track, in the mud.
