RIP John Prine

Post by WillyCamaro »

Sad news in the music world. John Prine passed away Tuesday, from covid 19. Thoughts and prayers for his family, and all who loved his music. May he be at peace, in a better place now ::pray:: .
Here is my tribute list of my favorite songs he wrote, and sung. Starting with one of my all-time favorite songs, from any musician/band/area.

My favorite John Prine song that he didn’t even write. Watch, he’ll tell you about it.

My two favorites are "Paradise' and "Hello In There". Ken's already posted "Paradise" so get out your hankie for "Hello in There".

"We lost Davy in the Korean war, I still don't know what for, don't matter anymore". That line still hits me like a truck. John was a poet genius. O'.

Nice post Ken.

Blaze Foley, who wrote "Clay Pigeons" was a fixture on the Austin TX. music scene until his untimely death. The band I was with in TX. used to cover a Lucinda Williams song that was written by her about Blaze, "Drunken Angel".

Blaze Foley was yet another gifted talent tormented by drugs and alcohol. Wasn’t well known by the general public but several songs he wrote became hits for other artists. John Prine was just one of many. Possibly the most well known of Blaze's songs is If I Could Only Fly which was a hit for Merle Haggard.

His good friend Townes Van Zandt said of Blaze “He only went crazy once. He decided to stay.” Makes you wonder, if Townes thinks you’re crazy……………
