Here’s a guy I used to sneak in and listen to when I was in high school. He was the featured artist in the house band at a blues-rock place called The Cellar https://www.texasmonthly.com/articles/t ... -of-clubs/ . We were both a lot younger back then. He died a few years ago. Never figured out why he didn’t make it big. ::shrug::

Great stuff Wayne. A kid I grew up with went to Saint Marks School in Dallas - his parents sent him there when he entered 9th grade. Some of his Saint Marks friends had a band called The Marksmen. I went with him one summer afternoon to watch them practice, literally in one of the band member’s garage. We sat around and watched an hour or so, then left. I thought they were good but didn’t think much more about it. A few years later I learned the band lead singer/guitarist was a guy named Boz Skaggs. My brief brush with fame. ::facepalm:: That would have been in the early 1960’s.

Thank you so much everyone for sharing! I love everything so far… Good music… It’s still out there, just hard to find these days from new artists If you don’t know where to look..shame of it is there’s so many artists out there 10,000 times better than the crap they put on the radio anymore…

Can’t explain it but somehow I never saw Johnny Winter, and was never a fan. ::facepalm:: ::shrug:: Not proud of it, just how it is. I just never was around when he was. ::dang::

Wayne a lot of people don't really associate Led Zeppelin with the blues but a majority of their early stuff came right out of the Mississippi delta. They just put their unique rock and roll style to it. All you've got to do is listen to to those guitar riffs and the blues come shining through. They're definitely one of my favorites.

Here's one of the inspirations for Led Zeppelin's Lemon Song:

Also, here's a couple of young guns that I think are really good. Christone Kingfish Ingram is (I think) only 21 years old. I first ran across a video of him when he was only 15. Marcus King is now a pretty big name - he tours all over.

Seasick Steve had to cancel his tour, so he posted a 1 hour "virtual" concert to youtube! Not the best recording, but the vibe is awesome.

Awesome bass post.

I used to go and listen to this bass player at a club in Batavia N.Y. Talas was the band and Billy Sheehan was voted best rock bass player of the year 5 times in Guitar Player magazine. A truly amazing player.
