Lost another legend

Post by Mumbleypeg »

I learned today that Tom T. Hall has passed at age 85. A great singer/songwriter, his songs will live on. Although not his biggest hit this one was my favorite. Written about a little-known guitar picker he idolized when he was a kid.

R.I.P. Tom.

Nanci was another great songwriter I will miss. I posted about her passing a few days ago. https://www.allaboutpocketknives.com/kn ... 45#p941586

I loved Tom T Hall, and Clayton Delaney was about my favorite of his songs.

One of Tom T. Hall’s lesser known songs, but typical of most of his songs and illustrates perfectly why he was called “The Storyteller”.

Tom T. could turn a phrase like no other writer. Also had a good Bluegrass studio and produced some good acts. One of a kind.
Suggest every body listen to "Man By The Side Of The Road" , "I'm Just The Way I've Always Been" and "Old Dogs And Children". Classic Tom T. writing.

Nancy was unique too.
Bless them both. R.I.P.

Tom T. Hall made some of my favorite music.

I was at the airport in Phoenix. My son climbed up in the tall shoe shine seat for a photo op. Tom T Halls song “Shoe shine man”. Popped into my head and bounced around in my head for the rest of the day.

I took my phone off airplane mode when I got home and found out he had just died. Strange coincidence.

My favorite of his? “Your man loves you honey”.

He had a bunch of great songs.
My favorite "How I got to Memphis".
I listened to his music most of the day today on Spotify.

Back in the early 1970s when this song was popular, one of my co-workers was a guitar picker/singer, the son of a preacher, and quite a “rounder”. I nicknamed him “Luther Short” after the character in this song. He kinda liked the nickname, thought it was funny.

Here is my favorite of his. I sing it to my wife when she is mad at me. He says so much about relationships in just a few short verses.
