New Cattaraugus?

The Cattaraugus Cutlery Company was started by John Champlin and his son Tint in 1882. It was first incorporated under the name J.B.F. Champlin and Son as a wholesale distribution company based in Little Valley, New York. The business proved to be a successful endeavor, and it soon branched into a knife production company named Cattaraugus.

New Cattaraugus?

Post by RevolverP320 »

I don't know if this is the right place but who makes the new Cattaraugus pocket knives? Got a email from SMKW a while back and saw em. Nice looking, priced like they are made in the USA. any help would be greatly appreciated.

Case is what I've been told. The guy who actually has the rights to the Catt name is a high-level employee of Case.

Per the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office web site the rights to the Cattaraugus name were acquired by Jessup & Associates about a year ago. Jessup is a manufacturers rep company that has handled sales and merchandising of the Case product line for decades.

Thanks, I didn't notice that when I checked the patents.

No way, most of my Cattaraugus knives have been in my possession for at least 30 to 40 years.

This knife came out of a little ladies sewing kit at least 40 years ago.
