Catt auto's
Cattaraugus automatics are hard to come by and I finally got all 3 sizes. Just picked up the middle one. Very lucky to have gotten them.

That’s a very difficult group to have put together, thanks for sharing it Mike

Thanks, yes the first "U" is missing in the name on all of them. I have over 30 old tang stamps from the factory that I bought years ago and none of them is missing any letters. It's a mystery for sure.

Mike great score! If The knives were contracted out to George Schrade he likely tang stamped the blades there with stamps that he had made. That's probably where the misspelled stamps originated. You'd have to find his old factory hoard to find those stamps.

That’s for sure, a mystery I’ve been trying to make sense of for decades. Mark E. at one time made comment that possibly lack of room on the tang but looks like plenty to me….. maybe Bill Schrade could shed some light on it. Congrats again on this fine set of Catts. Re: Catt auto's
The stamps were cut by hand so whoever made it screwed up.
I guess they just used it until they found the mistake.

Thing is , there’s none of the autos ( I’ve ever seen) with a correction to the mark, nor a manual Catt with the mistake- I was hoping to see that one of Mikes had the correct spelling ,,,,, one of the mysteries that may never be solved.Miller Bro's wrote: ↑Thu Jun 24, 2021 1:38 am The stamps were cut by hand so whoever made it screwed up.

Re: Catt auto's
It's all good I'm glad you posted that. Mine are the same. I could understand if the bigger knives where that way and the smaller double was correct in the spelling but both the small and large knives missed spelled??? Very curious.
BTW, I love these Knife/Cutlery mysteries!!
