Cattaraugus invoices
Bought these at a paper show a good while back.. One is from Oct.,1911 for 67 mixed pocketknives and razors for a total of $28.38. The other, hand-written, is from Oct.,1897 for 146 items of mixed table cutlery and pocketknives for $30.57
They go nicely with my Catt collection. J.O'.

Yeah guys, just as cool as the knives themselves. The funny part was I was walking by the table and the binder was open to those pages.
Twilight zone!!!!

Very cool stuff! Thanks for sharing. I certainly would get those framed for my man cave.

Thanks, They are framed.. Didn't show in the pic. I'm a lousy photographer with a cell phone.

Hand written invoices. Pretty neat.
Invoices using a typewriter- also neat, but very slightly less.
Seeing those papers gives you the feeling that there was a connection between
the manufacturer and seller. Now not so much..........with the Covid thing
everyone now wants to go paperless. Progress in the wrong direction
like it or not....

I have always been afraid of a knife where the blades don’t quite look look the same age. I have a invoice from Cattaraugus where they replaced bad blades free.

Yeah those great old American warranties! Now they want you to by one and still won't stand behind it!!
Re: Cattaraugus invoices
Very interesting. If I'm not mistaken the 1897 invoice is from my hometown of Holley, N.Y. in Orleans county. I know the Holley village hardware sold Cattaraugus knives as there was a huge Catt display in the upstairs storage of the store. Small world at times.
The Cattaraugus balsa wood "stick boards" pictured came out of the old store display.

If I have seen further it is by standing on the shoulders of giants.

btrwtr: Got your note. Don't want to give those invoices up. I have an extensive Catt. collection and those framed items really enhance it. I'd gladly make you color copies of them for free if they're not intended for resale. Let me know. J.O'.
