Some Cattaraugus Items

The Cattaraugus Cutlery Company was started by John Champlin and his son Tint in 1882. It was first incorporated under the name J.B.F. Champlin and Son as a wholesale distribution company based in Little Valley, New York. The business proved to be a successful endeavor, and it soon branched into a knife production company named Cattaraugus.

Very cool, thank you for sharing these great pictures... so for us younger folks ::paranoid:: can someone explain what a "four finger throw" is?
The picture brings back memories of me and my bro trying to "stick" our knives back in a day
Thanks...

If you look at the boy on the right, he is measuring with his fingers how high the knife stuck.

How's this for a piece of Cattaraugus and cutlery history, original bank note with a picture of JBF Champlin, Cattaraugus founder and the one that started the Case family in the cutlery business, on the front!! Looks more like a bank note than a check!!

Figured it was time to revive this thread. My group of Cattaraugus tang stamp dies. Second picture top right is the rare 3C stamp and below that CCC in an arrowhead. There are 2 in there that are not Catt’s lower right. Henry Sears and an S&A
