Oldie but a Goodie

The Cattaraugus Cutlery Company was started by John Champlin and his son Tint in 1882. It was first incorporated under the name J.B.F. Champlin and Son as a wholesale distribution company based in Little Valley, New York. The business proved to be a successful endeavor, and it soon branched into a knife production company named Cattaraugus.

Oldie but a Goodie

Post by Ridgegrass »

Got lucky yesterday. Got this rather beat up Catt 22266 Coke Bottle Saber-ground for $2.50 in Snow Hill, MD. It needs a shield which I can shape from silver or stainless and it should make a nice carry. Pile side handle is rough too. Rainy day project. :D J.O'.

Very nice, I love Christmas tree celluloid.

Nice old knives. I recently found Cattaraugus "Catalog Proofs" with penciled in corrections. I also have a few old Catts that I'll put on my Store Platform this summer.

Have you posted the “corrections” yet. Sounds interesting.

Somebody said they had never seen a tipped bolster pearl whittler in Cattaraugus. Check these, not a crack in any of them. The bottom right is etched Cattaraugus in script.
