Be-in's how it is the 1st day of a New Year, (hopefully a better one!) I thought perhaps some pocket jewelry was in order!
So here is definitely a Gentleman's knife and I'm sure it was expensive way back then as now.
Beautiful Pearl, coined liners, fully sunk joints and a completely covered backspring!

Re: Gowanda N.Y. Shatt & Morgan's
While still in Gowanda S&M also made Shears and Razors.
I have not seen a Shear with a T-ville stamp but perhaps someone here might have one???
But I do know they continued to make Razors after there move to PA!
I found this Razor on the big auction site and was quite surprised at how little $ it cost to acquire it!
Both Razor and box look like it just came off the line within the last couple of years!!!

This particular EO pattern I have two of, this one has seen more use.

Re: Gowanda N.Y. Shatt & Morgan's
As stated above, I have a couple of this jigged bone EO pattern.
Here is a much cleaner example, the etch is still very visible/readable.
Says, FINZER'S TOBACCO KNIFE !!
Deep cut swedge on a big leaf spear!

A small 3 1/4" Jack, all steel with Cocobolo covers I believe.
Dave
The NY stamp seems to be getting harder to come by so if the knife looks original (or minimal repairs) and has a readable stamp, I've been picking them up.Dave

Re: Gowanda N.Y. Shatt & Morgan's
Thank You Men!
Here's a splitback equal end Gowanda Schatt . This knife has seen a lot of use and a lot of love during it's life. Brown bone that has been completely worn smooth on the mark and just barely left a little jigging pattern on the pile. This old knife has spent many a year in someones pocket! Must have been oiled regularly for the knife to still have such a strong snap. Wonder how many times this knife has been opened and closed? Was it a worry stone for someone? How many times was it passed from Father to Son? Answers only an old pocketknife can tell....
