My Tater Skin Brown Burlap Micarta knives arrived today. I forgot to order the Toothpick!
They all appear to have "near" Rough Ryder Reserve quality.
Excellent new series, love the black liners, I forgive Smoky for the "R" bolsters.

See David's (dlr 111) description on the Tater Skins above, I'm in total agreement.

Great haul of Tater Skins, Dan. I bet you liked opening that package!

David, that is a cool way to display those 'skins.

Those knives do make nice themed collections with the same handles and shields. I have never really collected knives based on the handle material, but I can certainly see the attraction.

Here is a RR I just bought. A Bird and Trout pattern, this knife is only 6.3 inches long.

I did not see any at Smoky Mountain, so i snagged this one off Ebay.

Next time I am cleaning some Sand Sea Trout I will have to test it out.

I guess the folks who created the Bird and Trout pattern would probably choke at the idea of using it on a Sea Trout, but Rainbows are a bit scarce here along the Gulf of Mexico.
RR and Case

Note that the RR is actually smaller than an open Case fishing knife. All in all, a very well made and cool little knife!

This just came in the mail today. This kind of look is all that I collect in Rough Ryders (and some Frost, etc.) - a colorful Southwestern look. I want good snap on my knives, and I can't say all of the knives I have in this style do. The blades on this one, though, snap like a gator. Caught this Copperhead on one of SMKW's flash sales, so, with postage and everything, just barely over $20. I don't think that's bad - especially for how solid this knife feels. I don't use them as EDCs, so I can't vouch for how well the blade would hold up over regular use, but it's sure sharp as a razor now. I couldn't be more pleased!

Beautiful Rough Rider Tim! I have a few odd R/R's in my collection and the Southwestern Dr.'s knife/melon tester is one of them and I love it. I got mine on ebay for a really good price just like you did for this knife and that's always a bonus! Looks great! 8)

Just picked this up. Really good. No shield or decorative bolsters, carbon steel and no gaps in the springs and liners. Very pleased!

Don't normally buy Rough Riders, but picked up these stags a few years ago with a collection I bought. I have since sold them, but as I recall, they were very good quality knives for the price.
