RRR017 Barlow
Got this in the mail today.
The fit and finish are great and I love the spear blade.

Looks nice! This is a little strange thou . . .
Pocket, fixed, machete, axe, it's all good!

Yep, that's my only complaint with it.
I checked my other RRR's and they don't have this.

Re: RRR017 Barlow
Are you referring to the blade being less wide than the spring ?
RR wanted it to be a strong knife with a spring that will never break, but there is no need for such thickness in the blade stock.
Least, this is how i see it.

You may be right Joe, but it looks horrible.

Re: RRR017 Barlow
I would worry about the blade shifting from side to side during use or opening.

It looks funny under magnification, but my vision is so bad I hardly notice it.

I used pretty good force on the blade at the half-stop and fully opened and I couldn't get any wobble.1967redrider wrote: ↑Fri May 06, 2022 6:40 pm I would worry about the blade shifting from side to side during use or opening.

For it being a relatively small knife, the backspring is beefy.kootenay joe wrote: ↑Fri May 06, 2022 6:19 pm Are you referring to the blade being less wide than the spring ?

I would rate the pull between a 5 to 6.

So far this is my favorite pattern they've put out.jmh58 wrote: ↑Fri May 06, 2022 7:04 pmBeavertail wrote: ↑Fri May 06, 2022 5:13 pm Got this in the mail today.

Re: RRR017 Barlow
Good looking knife. Does the blade pivot perhaps have brass washers or a brass bushing?

The Reserve line does have brass washers but I'm not sure about the brass bushing.

That’s a fine knife there. No gaps in the springs/scales/liners? The RRRs that I have are frankly better made than most knives that cost a lot more from what I have experiencedBeavertail wrote: ↑Fri May 06, 2022 5:13 pm Got this in the mail today.

I just got my copy yesterday, and I'm happy to read that you guys feel the same as I do about the knife! I didn't originally notice the gaps at the run-up, but when I looked harder, there they are, not as pronounced as in John's picture, but definitely gaps. That irritates the sh*t outta me, cuz otherwise it's a great knife! !

To me it's the best pattern in the Reserve lineup, but I'm very fond of Barlows so I might be prejudiced.

Re: RRR017 Barlow
Thanks Tim! I think it's the first of the RRR series I own, but you can be sure there'll be more to come! I am very fond of the Barlow pattern too, although I only have a couple cuz there's just too many others to consider, like BIG autos! lol!
