Scarce discontinued RR381 lockback!
This is a model that doesn't come around too often, a Rough Rider RR381 interframe lockback!
Spotted on ebay and then researched has proven it's a discontinued model they use to make but no longer do.
Opens to 5 1/4" oal and sports a 440 SS dagger blade with n/n, NS body and liners, faux MOP inserts on the covers, and fileworked liners and spine.
Weighs 2.7 oz.'s and came sharpened. Smooth easy pull and firm lockback release, along with an excellent fit and finish.
If it was only bigger I'd be in my glory, but as it sits I just really like it a lot!

Nice find Mark! I'm not a RR fan, but I have to admit that I do like that looks of that one. Now, if it was only a switchblade!

Oh man, if only!
Thanks Herb, I have a few of the more unusual Rough Rider models so when I saw that one I wanted it for my collection.
If only it was an auto, the blade release could have been hidden under the MOP insert, if only!

Thanks Nev!
Not only do I like single blades but I like them best if they're dagger ground.
This one was so much different than the usual Rough Riders folks have been posting I felt compelled to show it to everyone.
Personally, I've never seen any Rough Rider models anywhere close to this knife so I'm happy to add it to my other unusual's.

Re: Scarce discontinued RR381 lockback!
Thanks a bunch, Dan.
It was one of those ebayer's that you're browsing by and it grabs you.
I once saw an auto at The Knife Purveyor that looked exactly like this little RR except it was a full 9" open and had a solid shiny SS body without any type of inserts and the firing button completely integrated into the front handle and couldn't be seen at all. I fell in love with it immediately, but it's $22,000. price tag stopped me in my tracks just as immediately.
So, when I saw this RR it reminded me of that knife, and at less than .15% of $22,000. it was a no-brainer!

$22,000 for a knife? Is that a typo?

I'm afraid not, Dan.
The builder has knives at The Knife Purveyor with price tags of US$85,000., so that one is on the low-end for him.
Can you even conceive of laying down that kind of dough for a knife, I can't?

It wasn't that long ago you would buy a HOUSE here for $85000 with our traditionally crappy real estate prices.

So true, Cody.
Nowadays you'd get a tiny little shack for that kind of money.
But, you'd own a beautiful knife, no money for food or anything else, but a beautiful knife! ! lol!
