Ulster Camp / Utillity Knife.
Thought I would start a new topic here for the Ulster Camp or Utility Knife. Or what some call a Camping knife or generically call a Scout Knife. I really can't understand why Ulster is not a section in the U.S. Knife Forum here, especially with all the Ulsters I've seen posted in Knife Finds, Mail Call, and the Camillus 72 Clone thread. But like some say, It is what it is I guess.
Here is an Ulster 114 I recently fished out of the Bay for $25. It has some slight handling wear, but looks like new with no signs of being used to cut anything, and shows no signs of being put on a stone or re-sharpened. The handles look new, it has an oval shield with no markings, All blades have great snap, and the master spear point blade has a blade etch of a pennant shaped flag with "WEST POINT" The tang stamp on the blades simply has ULSTER over USA. The blades are not Stainless Steel. I did the gun blueing on the toothpick test on the bottom tang of the punch blade, also the can opener blade, and both blued almost ass soon as the toothpick touched the metal. So I figure a high carbon steel. This is my second Ulster 114, but my first in this great of condition. My other is very worn.
If anyone wants to post any of their Ulster Utility / Camp knives here, feel free to do so. I may also start a thread for Ulster Scout Knives. Here are some photos of the 114.

Nice one. All I want to add is that WEST POINT was a brand name used by True Value Hardware for a brief period.

Re: Ulster Camp / Utillity Knife.
Appreciate it Joe.
Thanks Steve, and appreciate the info. Do you think this is the implication of the Blade Etch? I really don't know the background of the knife, nor does the seller I got it from. I was wondering if it possibly could have been a knife that may have been purchased in the West Point Military Academy Gift Store. I know you used to be able to purchase Fixed blades from them and have a graduates name, class number & year engraved in the blade. But the last time I checked, the store had stopped selling knives. Now mainly coffee mugs, shirts and hoodies. I guess they went politically correct.knifeaholic wrote: ↑Fri May 27, 2022 4:11 pm Nice one. I'm pretty certain that it was a knife made for True Value, nothing to do with West Point Academy.Papa Bones wrote: ↑Fri May 27, 2022 4:26 pmAppreciate it Joe.

Re: Ulster Camp / Utillity Knife.
Here’s a Ulster Camp/ Utility knife that I believe came from Ray ( Paladin ) with the other 2 to make the set for the Prince Albert tin .
The Camp utility knife is a handy model and keep a couple laying around the shop and trucks .
Smitty, that’s a neat etch on the main .
Steve, interesting info about West Point being used by True Value .

Re: Ulster Camp / Utillity Knife.
Thought I would post this here. It's definitely utilitarian. A Ulster Stainless 130SS. It has been used and abused, but the master blade as well as the castration tool are both tight and have awesome snap. Just needs some tlc.
