The Ulster 63, Cousin to the Camillus 72 Carpenter's Whittler

Post by Papa Bones »

Thought I would start a thread for the Ulster 63. A cousin, or clone of the Camillus 72 Carpenters Whittler. Here is my latest addition. A Ulster 63 with what I like to call Strawberry handles, both because of the color combination and the design of jigging in the synthetic handles . It has nickle silver bolsters, oval shield, and brass liners. The blades have some slight wear and scratches, but still have luster, are full and have strong snap. The coping blade seems to be the only one that has had a little abuse on the end and edge. The tang stamp on the Clip Blade is ULSTER over USA. All I've done is flush it with some WD40, wipe her down, blow with compressed air, oiled the joints and gave it a good sharpening on all blades.

I've never seen the " strawberry" handles before. Great looking knife Smitty. Carrying a yellow 72 in my pocket today.

Thanks Nick. Ulster also made some of the Craftsman 9494 Carpenters Whittler for sears. Just personally, I've seen this color handle more on Craftsman than on the traditional 63.
