Schrade 225H clean up and mod
I decided it was time to do a clean up on a 225H I have had in my box for a while.
While I was at it, I decided it needed some new covers. I found a piece of moose antler online and thought I might cut me some slabs out of it.
Here is my 225H before it all began.....
The moose billet....
All the parts cleaned up....
The blade had some deep pits that I had to file and sand out.
One of the slabs cut and fitted to the liner.....
I made myself a drilling jig like the one Muskratman used on one of his repair videos.....
And here is the finished product......
I guess it turned out OK....
My oldest son just turned 40 yesterday so I think he might get this one for a birthday happy....

Mike, that turned out great!
Nice use for the moose antler slab. And I like your handle clamping fixture.

I don't recall seeing anyone use Moose antler before. Now I feel like I have been missing out! That is every bit as beautiful as Sambar stag to me!
Great job on that restore.

Mike, that turned out awesome. Love the moose antler.
Re: Schrade 225H clean up and mod
We may be seeing it used more in the future, with quality Sambar Stag very hard to obtain now.

Re: Schrade 225H clean up and mod
The drilling jig / fixture thing enables you to drill from the liner side into a cover that is rough and irregular so you can pin the covers to the liner. I attached a small piece of flat bar to the bottom of the main plate to use as a clamp. I drilled and tapped that bar and then glued a piece of leather to it so when you tighten it to the top plate it won't scar the covers.
The top plate with the "V" cut keeps your liner perfectly flat while you drill.
Muscratman's drilling jig used spring clamps to hold the liner to the top plate. He had the original idea for the fixture.
I just thought my spin on his idea would keep liners more stable by having an attached clamp system.

Great job, looking good, like the jig you made for the pin drilling. Excellent. Great looking knife now too.
