The Schrade that never was
It is my understanding that schrade went under before the XT4 was actually produced. However some blanks were stamped and tempered before they kicked the bucket. A fellow sent me a blank a while back and I got to doing it today. I first ground the blade, then added satin finished black linen micarta handles. I enjoyed this project.

Nice work! Do you know what kind of steel they used for the blank - which stainless (I think) it is. I have a couple blanks back in the shop, but they are not marked XT4. They are the same blanks.

Hey Ken that's the only pic I have at the moment.
Hukk, not sure what type of SS they used it's marked schrade + which definately means it's stainless, I just don't know the exact type of ss

I'll have to do some research - it is a long term project. I have a couple other blades that are stainless I believe. I can try for a proper heat treat/temper on those blanks first. I would rather work on those XT4 blanks knowing a bit more. Mine are just stamped out, ready to grind.
