Schrade 515 SC Lockback in Black Bone

Post by Jeffinn »

This one was supposed to be pure black but ended up being black with a mottled grey undertone. Not expected but no objectionable either. It was my first knife of this type. Seemed solidly made and parts all fit well together. Blades are as found when purchased (not polished by me).

It looks good!
That often happens with black bone.

Thanks Dale, that’s good to know.
Culpepper had a special on smooth black bone in fairly nice sizes and it was “pre-polished”. The pre-polish looked pretty darn good but then there was some hafting and finishing work to do which changed the color a bit.
It turned out to be a nice color, just not the jet black that I started with.

Another nice job Jeff!
The black bone does look great. I have never tried that color before. Really nice!
